It took about 5 minutes to go between the two locations.

I would like to get a feel for how many people will be coming. So far, it looks like everybody from last time will be coming, except M4 (Unless we can somehow pull the war off in late May, but he still might not be able to come.) and his cousins (Although didn't M4 say that his cousins were going to try to get a ride with his brother or something? What became of that?).

So the following people are coming for sure (Or at least ~90% chance.):
DX
scottthewaterwarrior
SEAL (Me), plus my 2 brothers, and possibly up to 4 friends/cousins.
wetmonkey442 (He hasn't posted here for a while, but I assume he'll be coming...I hope...)

And this set of people may or may not be able to come, but talked about it:
atvan
[SSC] Ben (Who should totally bring the Supercannon II...)
CA99, plus a few more people?
mr. dude (I think.)

And these people should come:
Any member who lives on (or near enough to) the east side of North America! :goofy:

So it looks like the least amount of people we'd get would be 6, but if everybody on the lists came (Excluding the 3rd "list". :goofy: ), we could get 11+. Remember, our goal is to get more people each year! If you have any friends who you think would be interested, please tell them about the war!

Hopefully, we'll get some new members in the spring who may be interested, but I wouldn't count on it.

I'm still working on the parents. I'm getting the classic, "I'll think about it." If we work into our trip to Maine though… well, then my brother would be there with nothing to do. :goofy:

My brother won't drive further than Virginia. He gets bad migraines.

Every one of you should invite friends. Between DX, Scott, Seal, Keith, and John... you gotta be able to at least get some extra people to come. Make a list of all the people you can think of that would enjoy this sorta thing, and let them know about it.

This summer we should post on the nerf forums... and I have a hunch that it'd be good to post on the lego forums too. I am getting an impression that there is a good crossover in the type of people who like this sorta thing.

Lastly, hopefully the new members we get up until then will bring about some battle goers.

I'm going to try to bring a WBL this time, because I think the last war was severely lacking in that department.

As far as getting people on the LEGO forums, IDK. The site I use, mocpages.com, isn't really a forum. Every one has a homepage and they can make other pages linked to it depicting their different LEGO stuff. It does have groups which have chat sections that function sorta like forums, but many of the people on the site are AFoLs (Adult Fan of LEGOs) so they probably wouldn't want to come. Once we get a date set, I could at least try making a thread in a few of the more active groups that I belong to, just in case.

I will see what I can do about inviting friends too. It will be at most one or two people, I doubt I could stand more then that on an 6 hour car ride. My friends Luke and Bela (the two most likely candidates) probably will not be as good as most of us, but they have gotten pretty good after 5-6 years of yearly team soak fests and one CTF match. I will have to ask them about it though.

The lego forum I am on does not allow links to outside forums. However, Black Six is the lead moderator there, so he might be able to grant me permission. Should I send a PM off to him and ask?

I asked Luke and Bela, both of them would like to come, especially Bela, he showed particular interest. They can't give a definate yet until we have a date, but put me down for me + 1/2 others.

I've got two friends who would probably come for sure, just so long as they aren't doing anything else at the time. My cousin also expressed interest in coming (And his brother will probably come too.), but he lives pretty far away.

What would be really great is if we could time it so my cousins who live in North Carolina are up here when we have the war. If that were the case, I could bring (Including myself.) as many people as we had last year altogether!

The votes are in and the final tally is:
Downpour with 7 votes
Aquapocalypse with 3 votes
Hydropocalypse with 1 vote

So the east coast annual community summer war will now be known as Downpour (though for the next year or so if you still call it the CSW people will probably know what you are talking about).

What now?

Ka-BUMP!

I'm going to throw out a date for you guys. How does July 28th-29th sound? You see, both my brothers have their birthday on the 27th (I know, right?), and they'd probably have a party on either the 28th or the 29th, since those two dates are weekends. What I'm trying to say is, we could combine the community war with their party, and I could for sure bring a few extra people.

Also, I've thought up an epic gametype that we could play on the cliff area across the street from Dug Hill. I'll post about it later.

I will set that date as a target and let you guys know whether or not I can make it then. Also, we can use Doodle again like we did last time.

Most likely I won't be able to attend if I find a job but can't take enough days off at the right time, or if I have to drive all the way by myself. Not sure on booking flights; only if I have the $$. (And no, I can't take donations, but I really appreciate the offer from last time; you know who you are.)

I can however, draft gametypes and a graphical logo. :goofy:

I already made a Doodle calendar. Here.

Now, here's the schedule that me and my brothers planned out (Assuming we do it on the 28th and 29th.):

Friday, July 27th: I assume a lot of you will arrive the night before the event, like last time, except you won't have to camp at Wilson or another campground; you can just camp at Onteora Lake for free. I will camp out as well, and I'll be there to greet everyone on friday night. We could have a soakfest or something just for fun, but we probably won't have any serious battles until the next day.

Saturday, July 28th: We'll just stay at the lake all day and fight; my parents can drop food off for us. When night comes, we can set up our tents in the woods and have an all-night war, like we talked about earlier.

Sunday, July 29th: Once everybody wakes up, we'll head over to good ol' Dug Hill, and have the rest of our battles there. My brothers can have their birthday party at lunchtime, so it doesn't interrupt the fighting too much. You guys can then leave when it gets later; most of you aren't coming from too far away, unless CA99 (Or anyone else who wants to come from far away.) comes, in which case he'd probably have to either leave a lot earlier than everyone else, or stay one more night and leave early the next morning. He can either stay at a hotel, or go back to Onteora Lake and camp out again.

If there's anything you guys would like to change, please let me know.

Sounds pretty good, we had nothing else planed then and my dad put it on the calender so it should be set. I also asked my friend Bela about the date, he said it should work for him but he'd have to get back to me. So with that date it should be me plus one, maybe two but I've got to ask Luke still. Hope you don't go to bed too early on Friday though, my guess is we probably wouldn't get there until 10 or 11 at night. Speaking of which, how hard is this place to find in the dark if you don't know the area? It took me and my dad a little searching to find Dug Hill last year and that was at like 10:00am.

The 28th is my mom's birthday, but I'm looking into how to work around that.

Cleared that up already, I can come on that weekend.

It depends on how good your orienteering skills are.

The turnoff for the lake is a fairly hiddenish, graded dirt road

To find the right turnoff, you have to be paying attention to the visual cues. While coming up 28, you cross Waughkonk Road. This warns you that you are getting close. You then pass an unmarked dirt road on the right. This warns you that the next unmarked dirt road on the right is the one to take. Now, you will pass by the lake itself on the right, however this may not be obvious at night. You will then see several buildings on the left of 28, and several on the right. You turn before any of the buildings on the right. It will look like a small parking lot. If you miss it, you know you've gone too far if 28 starts to bend to the left and if you cross Basin Road. If you have a mobile phone, you could call us and someone could come give a visual cue at the parking lot.

Alternatively, perhaps Seal could go and see what that building is right next to the parking lot and its address, so people could plug that into their GPS.

I found the address for the building across the street. It's 903, Route 28 (Not sure if 28 has another name.), I'm pretty sure it's in Hurley, and it's called "Brad's Barns" (They sell sheds and stuff.).

Oh by the way, there are no restrooms at Onteora Lake. Is everyone alright with that? We probably won't be able to take showers either, so we may be pretty stinky by the time the event's over. :goofy:

Oh great, it will be like boy scouts all over again, guess I will have to bring a shovel. :goofy: I think a CPS 2000 will make an OK improve shower, but I think it would be in agreement that we have to wear suits.

I will have to make sure I am driving the last leg of the journey then, when I get close I will go 10 miles an hour, doubt I will miss it then. Will have to ignore my dad though, he thinks I drive too slow normally! So I'm I understanding that the parking lot can be seen from the main highway (that's 28 right)? If so then maybe someone should bring some fire works and set them off when people call and say they are close. It isn't legal to own sparklers where I live let alone set them off so of coarse I do not have 3 dozen roman candles that could be used for that purpose, no-o-o-o-o, of coarse not. :goofy:

That's right! We could have a soakfest or something as an improvised shower, although we wouldn't have soap.

It shouldn't be too hard to find; I can get precise directions if you guys want. Fireworks aren't legal here either, haha (Though that doesn't stop us...).
