Annoying misconceptions about soakers - stuff that people beleive but isn't true
i was just sticking my xp 220's int the fridge to chill them, when my dad came up and said "don't put those in the fridge, they might leak" now, i know for a fact that my XP220's don't leak, but i can understand his concern because some of my other broken soakers have leaked everywhere. i just thought it would be interesting to see other common misconceptions about soakers, and what other people have heard.

Here's a few:
.The CPS 4100 is fragile and can break easily-There are 2 marks of the 4100, so there's a 50/50 chance of this, not every 4100 is so fragile.
.The FF must have a 30x nozzle, look how big it is!-Isoaker rated it at around 11x, proving that actual output, and not size of the nozzle, matters.
.I don't want to make a homemade because they are difficult to build-If you know how water guns work, building a homemade is really easy and really fast.
.This gun has really good range, 30 something feet!-So many people think that's good, and I am willing to say outright that 30ft plain sucks. Really, learn a few mods, or buy some older CPS soakers. You can get ranges of over 45ft. with a stock 2500, 2000, 1500, etc, and ranges of over 60ft with 3 simple mods, a few hours of free time, and a 2100.

Not to mention the 1000 or 1200.

Myth: Super Soakers are just for little kids. Organisation in a water fight is stupid.
Truth: Super Soakers can be enjoyed by people of all age groups, and organisation can greatly enhance the attraction of waterfighting.

Actually, though not on the CPS 2000, I've been given the impression that some safety tests had been done on a couple of models of Super Soakers (not sure about other brands). Tests done suggested that, while no irreversible damage occurred, had the blaster(s) tested been any stronger, irreversible damage was virtually guaranteed.trekkie00 wrote:Myth: The CPS 2000 is strong enough it can severely damage your eyes.
Fact: A. That's never been proven...
B. It would require an extensively modified 2000 (aka, Colossus modded or with an extremely small nozzle.)
As for the modded-soakers that push out more water greater distances, I doubt those would pass toy-safety standards and could probably do some damage if abused.

Misconception: SuperSoakers are for Kids.
Truth: Half right, the Monster series and larger CPS's were designed for older kids.
Misconception: Water Warfare is for losers with no life and a nack for wasting time, they should be shunned from society.
Truth:
A HUGE one with Americans today is that if it looks like a kid toy, it's for kiddies. If older kids are playing with it; they are morons. Absoloutly not true. Super Soakers are really fun if your not... How can I say this.. "stupid "with them, like if you used them for neighborhood domination, etc. Hardcore Warriors are ridiculed everyday (I was, I unfortunatly had to put up with crap for 3 years), but most people see a reason and don't care when its 90 degress out with 90% humidity. Soakers were intended for a younger audience, but the concept of Water Warfare is for everyone. I can still hear my dad saying"hes too old for those blasted toys" but I was never one to stick with conformity. Don't go overboard, but have fun.
Opinions are like rear ends: everyone has one :p

Myth: You waste $50 on a CPS 3200 while you can boy a squirt pistol for 99 cents to do the same thing (my dad actually said that!!)
Truth: It doesn't, and whoever said that regrets it shortly thereafter. (Happened too.):D
