Re: Source for water reservoirs

A lot of these look very good, especially because they have dedicated attachment points. No need to use gas cans! Good find.

Re: Meet Ups in VA and MD

I'm definitely going to be back in Maryland for most of December, but I don't know exactly when I'll get there. It looks like the one final I'll have is going to be re-scheduled, so I don't know when it will be. Still, I should be in Maryland from December 15 to 31 at least.

Re: My CPH just shot over 70 Ft!

I was hit unintentionally at close range by a blast by Ben's SuperCAP (65 feet max in range, 125 oz/s max in flow rate). Ben was doing some riot blast testing when the gun spun him and the stream ended up hitting me. It felt like a very heavy slap on my thigh. It wasn't that bad, actually.

Re: My CPH just shot over 70 Ft!

Wow, good job! Ben's CPHs only got around 65 feet, if I recall correctly, though at the time our nozzle technology was quite bad. Your nozzle is excellent and is likely the reason for the performance boost above the baseline. As to the lubrication questions, there was a thread about this a few month...

Re: Frozen Fury/or other War

I could bring Riptide should I come. Right now, it needs to have its pump replaced, but that's an easy fix. I don't think it will perform that well, but it will work.

Re: Frozen Fury/or other War

Let's do this. Definitely! I'm looking forward to doing something. I now have more info about my availability. I should be back in Maryland from around December 10th to January 8th. My car is on the West coast for the time being but I should be able to borrow a car from my parents to get to events ...

Re: Meet Ups in VA and MD

I had a job right next to Gathland before, and the area should generally be pretty good. It has a parking lot, a pavilion, toilets, a large field, and it's on the Appalachian Trail. It's been quite a few years since I've been there, though, so I second the notion that somebody should scout it out to...

Re: CPS 2000 help

If the blaster outputs water when it's pointed down, it points to the firing valve being open (if all else is sealed). This sometimes happens when the spring that closes the valve weakens with age. This guide gives more details about this particular problem. If it's not that, I'd recommend you read ...

Re: Homemade Splashzooka

Ok, so the performance seems to be what's expected, perhaps on the better side due to your nozzle. Good work! Recently, it appears that more and more builders are concentrating on designing better nozzles, which I have to admit were neglected for far too long. And you raise a good point: nozzles are...

Re: Meet Ups in VA and MD

This sounds like an excellent plan. I'm willing to meet midway somewhere in Virginia. I'll be back in MD for Christmas this year and spring break next year (sometime around March 24 to April 3, maybe a few days earlier depending on finals). I may or may not be in MD for the summer; I won't know unti...

Re: Homemade Splashzooka

Good job on this build! People (like me) forget that you can often get decent (by our standards) performance without much physical work, and this build definitely shows that. Ben did make a backpack version of this gun called Leftovers (same concept), but this is the first time I've seen someone mak...

Re: What Makes a Good Battle?

Good points, SEAL! This is a pretty good breakdown of how to make a good battle. I think the main thesis here is a good one. In all the battles I've gone to I've tried to go for maximum fun rather than maximum chance of winning whatever scenario is at hand. For that reason I got hit A LOT MORE than ...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

Good job addressing my points! I was only concerned that the design would not go as planned, so I'm glad you had already had thought through all these aspects already. Hmm, I didn't realize that the grip was a PVC pipe. I guess it looked like bike handle due to the bicycle brake so I said bike handl...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

Tim, I love your planned layout. Everything fits neatly on a single rail, so there's no need for "internals." The bike handle as a pistol grip is a pretty interesting idea, though personally I prefer a real pistol grip (since they are available). It's personal choice, though, and certainly a bike ha...

I can't believe I missed this earlier. Great job, Tim! This is sorta like Ben's SuperCAP done right (no offense to Ben). I appreciate the high level of detail, which does answer a lot of questions but also promotes discussion by letting people ask deeper questions. I also appreciate the color coordi...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

Personally, I think 3L is good standard for a "high-powered" blaster. 4L is probably the max we can go without it getting too heavy. 4L is 4 kg (8.8 lbs) of water, so really is a lot of weight to carry with your arms, though I guess another variable to consider is whether or not to have a strap. Per...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

Like Ben, I actually prefer not to have an on-board reservoir. A reservoir takes up a lot of space. If you are using cylindrical CPS to power the gun, the logical place to put the reservoir is behind the chamber, which makes the gun even longer. 4 inch PVC drain pipe is the cheapest and most readily...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

I've considered bicycle handbrakes for triggers when I was coming up with ideas for Riptide. The only problem that I saw at the time was the the trigger pull length would be very low and only suitable for pull valves. I wanted to use a ball valve, which needs a lot of pull length, so I used a rotary...

Re: Coating to Reduce Friction Inside 3D Printed Nozzle

I too look forward to more data for these nozzle setups. The images do appear similar, but perhaps the quantitative data would be markedly different. There's no way to tell until the measurements are made, though. Either way, I really do like that we are finally trying to improve the nozzle assembly...

Re: MOAB 2016 (Official Thread)

The next time I be on the East coast would be around December 10th , and I'll be back on the West coast around New Year's Day. Little Creek definitely looks like a great battlefield, with some good open areas and a stream nearby, lots of cover too. If this is held during December, I'd most likely co...
