Re: Pick three (3) new water blasters

Hmm, I never seen it in the U.S. so I forgot it released here.

Re: Pick three (3) new water blasters

Pretty sure the Waterlord is 2015 and not covered here. It also rather lacked availability in American markets, although I still could've gotten one if I really wanted to. But leaving that out of the list, all I have left is the obvious Gargantua and whatever other top performing pressurized blaster...

Re: Standardizing Hits

Dyes and other additives are not practical to coordinate with events, but they may warrant experimentation. Disputes: We already have both players eliminated at the same time if no one can tell who hit who first. Having players wear destroyable targets is perhaps worth experimenting with, but I see ...

Re: Need help to repair rubber bulb inside the Chamber.

I just remember from trying to build a balloon bladder, the base needs to be thicker/more durable than a single balloon, or the end result will be unable to expand evenly. The K-mod works easily because the bladder provides that structure, and every subsequent balloon added expands evenly in surface...

Re: Need help to repair rubber bulb inside the Chamber.

^ Considering that special techniques are required to build balloon PC's from scratch, I don't think that'll simply just work. I don't know the exact technique, but it involved a stem of some sort. Otherwise, without anything to stretch the lower layers on, they will wrinkle and stick at bad spots t...

Re: Soakemore 2016

I just got a PM from Chupacabra (Danny). He apologized for not calling a hit loudly enough or something during a game in the portables. The end result is that I mistimed some moves I wanted to make and then got hit, then got frustrated over it and yelled a bit too loudly about it. I probably scared ...

Re: Standardizing Hits

Taking the blaster out if hit already adds another layer of complexity I think we don't need.

My issue with the 1-droplet rule is that it puts something like short sleeves at a serious disadvantage without stacking more complexity over it. At the current system, it's less of an issue.

Re: Standardizing Hits

The other issue is that droplet sizes still exist; it is still very possible to get hit by droplets ranging from mist to standard-sized droplets. Worst off, it would incentive wearing more clothing. A droplet hitting your face or glasses lens is easy to detect. That same droplet hitting the side of ...

Re: Standardizing Hits

I think the current standard of majority of tap-shot + fist-sized check works fine. Just feeling water doesn't work since it could just be a single drop of mist which may or may not be noticed under the circumstance.

Re: MOAB 2016 (Official Thread)

With what I'm working on this summer, I'd like to avoid having anything until late August or so. Time will tell, and with some major plans in the works, I have no idea how things will play out.

Re: Nerf is "best-performing brand" at Hasbro

Based on the results of their merger with Alex Brands, I think we might see more interesting things from them in the future. CPS is back and no lawsuit this time (as of yet), and their dart blaster line completely dumps all over Nerf in terms of raw performance and price. Materials and manufacturing...

Re: Soakemore 2016

I like our two venues there in MD, and would definitely be down to play at those locations more often. The unfortunate part is that there aren't really any good known locations outside of the island and labyrinth; Carderock is just not as high quality of a location although it certainly is usable. H...

Re: Soakemore 2016

Without having predictable attendance, we can't plan teams and that's just how it works. Being able to come up with teams on the spot is a necessary capability of hosting these, especially with the rivalry no longer being in play. In the end, to maintain agile, we probably need the host to be decisi...

Re: Protection and Shielding

Blaster blocking was never banned and is still a thing. Shields in general haven't been discussed much, but it's pretty universally agreed that full size shields are banned for the vast majority of games. With that said, I'd be okay with something smaller like the shield blaster, but it doesn't come...

Re: New Game Mechanic: Hostages!

There's a reason why the player in question is a hostage, and why the team holding them doesn't simply execute them, so it's best to keep that play mechanic neutral; keep BOTH teams from executing the hostage. An alternative setup could be to escort the hostage as well from point A to point B at noz...

Re: Soakemore 2016

I marked every weekend on the list, but the best time for me would probably be sometime in May. There's a nerf war (from the Yolostock group in PA) being scheduled and I'm trying to stack it a week before or after this one, so I can take a 1 week vacation. I lose out on a week of work (or have to wo...

Re: $19 Action Cams on Ebay

I finally tested one of these, and to summarize, these are only worth purchasing for the accessories/hardware. The camera piece itself is completely trash and can't take anything at a usable quality level. You'll need the actual SJCam to make use of the hardware.

Re: MOAB 2016 (Official Thread)

^Ah, it's that time of the year again!

Though the portable labyrinth is in jeopardy, we have plans and ideas in the works for a more... permanent solution. It will take a lot of time and funding, however, and this funding isn't there yet.
