Re: 2021 Adventure Force Soakers - Including a Pressurized One!
That's an interesting pump design. I remember looking at the idea of pumping water in both directions a long time around but I concluded that it was not worth the additional complexity. Nonetheless I must admit that this gun has a creative solution to that problem. I wonder how easily this would bre...

Re: Super Soaker CPS 1500 connector compatible with Jabsco accumulator tanks
Interesting find! I actually got a broken CPS 1500 a few years ago chiefly for the rubber bladder, so this information could be useful to me later. It seems more likely to me that Laramie copied the connectors rather than the other way around. They didn't need to re-invent the wheel here and if ther...

Re: 13M CPS Chinese knock off blaster What?!!(Super Shooter CPS 5000)
I watched the video of the Thailand water festival with Ben last night. I honestly got excited that at least somebody, somewhere, is still making decent CPS guns. Based on the video, it seems like whoever made them certainly made a lot of them too. I don't really know how somebody could obtain these...

Re: Spyra One
Ben has taken his out of the box and has charged it, but I don't think he has tested it yet. I picked it up and the handling seemed adequate, though I did not fire it.

Re: Hasbro Product Recalls
It's kinda weird that of all the guns in their back catalog they choose to re-release these. It's also kinda weird that the sticker somehow has too much lead in it. That seems to be like something you just would not put in it, like, at all. But at least they are recalling it.

Re: APH Design Questions
I think the internal diameter matters more for performance that the chamber diameter. Certainly 4" diameter PCs hold a lot more water, but I don't think they would perform much better on their own. If your gun is designed purely for range and output, you should use the biggest PCs you can buy. But m...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
That is exactly the kind of nozzle most homemades need. Thanks for posting the link and photo, Tim! I knew I saw some other nozzles out there but I couldn't find the thread at the time. This thread should be a good reference for people who would want to build one of these pump-action designs.

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
Hmm, I seem to remember the roughness now. The interior surface has large jagged elements sticking out. I thought that I would cut myself if I touched it. I don't recommend that part in retrospect. It seems that McMaster has categories for both "fire hose nozzles" and "garden hose nozzles." The part...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
I was thinking about the 1-inch diameter nozzles like parts 6484T15 or 6484T22. These won't work in your design because you used 1/2-inch pipe for the nozzle section, but if you used 1-inch pipe this would work. These nozzles have an opening of 5/16-inch, which seems to be roughly optimal just based...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
I may try to build a "pump-action" design next summer. At the moment, I don't have the time, but your results have definitely gotten my interest. I think as a community we have tended to concentrate on the higher end of performance (not that that's bad!). We've neglected these simpler designs, and t...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
Good job! I'm glad that you're the first to build a design like this. I've been thinking the last few weeks that people (well, I at least) have been building designs that are just too complicated. I admire this design's simplicity. It's basically the APH design with a larger pump and no pressure cha...

Re: CPS 2000 vs 2500 questions
I have in fact, replaced a spring inside of a check valve on this CPS 1500 . Wow, great job! I love the photos. I always wondered what the stock check valves looked like inside. I agree replacing the spring should be a last resort provided nothing else worked, but I'm glad that you've documented th...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
Sometimes different check valves are at different stores. Every kind of check valve under the sun is available online at McMaster-Carr if that's an option for you. If 1/2" is too difficult to find, I'd suggest looking for larger sizes if possible. It would also be good to check the aisles for metal ...

Re: Favorite Firing Valve Design?
Well, I can speculate as to how the check valve opens and closes. We can see in second photo under "Build and Ergonomics" that the valve does have a coil spring. My best guess is that this spring keeps the valve open. The question then becomes how does the valve close. Another guess is that when the...

Re: Favorite Firing Valve Design?
I'm only going based on the pictures provided by iSoaker's review . It appears that the valve is just a rudimentary check valve that opens when the pump is fully extended. Without a picture of the internals I can't comment on the physical mechanism of levers/gears/etc. that achieves that goal, but t...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
Good job! This is the first time I've seen somebody attempt a gun like this. The second check valve will make the pump fill much more easily but it also may decrease the performance a bit. It obstructs the flow slightly, so if you do put it in you should be aware of that. I'd say that the range for ...

Re: Homemade pump action designs?
I can't recall anyone building a pump-action water gun, but many people have built "stream machine" style guns. Take this gun , for example. The principle is that same --- the faster you pump, the faster water gets shot out --- but usually people fill them by pulling water out of a lake or other lar...

Re: CPS 2000 vs 2500 questions
If the problem is the check valve, there seems to be little that you can do. It might be sluggish due to the spring inside losing elasticity, so it would require a greater force to open (more force needed to compress it the same amount). I don't think anyone has tried to replace the springs inside t...

Re: Favorite Firing Valve Design?
This is an interesting question because it involves tradeoffs between ease of use and performance. The answer depends on who is asking the question. A ball valve will perform the best since it generates the least turbulence, but a pull valve is much easier to use since it will open and close quickly...
