Re: Potential Successor to APH

Hi watercrazy007! I appreciate your enthusiasm. Idea 1 seems like a simple correction to achieve linear flow, and probably would improve the performance noticeably. I think that using an elastic chamber would be a simpler design, though, without having to worry about the dropoff in pressure. I'm act...

Re: CPS in Backpack (not in gun)

I've always wanted to include a QFD in my homemade designs but never really figured out where to put it, so I never did it. I remember that the nozzles of some CPS guns that have pull valves (Splashzooka especially) could be automatically used as a QFD on certain nozzle settings, which was what I th...

Re: CPS in Backpack (not in gun)

It is possible to build a quick-fill device. http://www.sscentral.org/homemade/vhs.html has some instructions as to how. http://forums.sscentral.org/showthread.php?t=3884 has some (older) discussion. It's been a while since I've seen a quick-fill device, but I think that all you really need is an ap...

Re: CPS in Backpack (not in gun)

This is definitely an interesting project. To add to what Ben said, I think another potential issue is the ergonomics of the backpack. Assuming that each tube is fully filled, a 4-tube backpack that is 18" tall would carry around 4L of water. Add in the weight of the piping and other mechanical part...

Re: Maintenance is essential now more than ever!

I totally agree. I never modified my blasters because I was scared that it would be just break them or limit their life. The classic CPS guns already perform so much better than current ones that modifications don't make much sense (at least to improve range and output). I think features like the sa...

Re: Did some range testing today, CPS & Homemades

From my limited observation maybe the spherical LRT maintains/increases while cylindrical LRT decreases???? I get good results out of my 1000/1200/1700 but every ancient CPS-2500 I've held seems gets 40-42 ft max. Actually, this was exactly what I was thinking! I know I've seen a lot threads about ...

Re: Did some range testing today, CPS & Homemades

Interesting results! What does the 5/16" 6" long refer to? Is that a special nozzle assembly you've designed? I've been more interested recently in seeing how different guns age. I remember some talk a while ago about how some guns seem to improve performance over time while others don't. Any though...

Re: Have manufacturers given up?

This article seems to be spot-on from my point of view. In the back of my mind I was hoping there would be a resurgence once the CPS patents expired, but it seems that the opposite has happened. Manufacturers know they don't have to put in any effort and the newest disposable thing will sell again a...

Re: Accumulator tanks as pressure chambers

I can't believe that missed this thread! This is an interesting discussion, and I appreciate the new designs people are building with this concept. CDMT, what kind of performance are you getting with these tanks? Is there a big difference between a horizontally-oriented tank (that provided linear fl...

Hi Tim! It looks like you've come up with a good next iteration. I look forward to the results from your testing.

Does this design use different O-rings?

Re: HOG

This seems to be the most well-planned water war ever! Good job to SEAL and others for planning it. Looks like it will be a blast! Unfortunately I have to work all summer and won't be back on the East coast until December. I'd love to come but I just can't. Good luck to everyone who goes though!

I legitimately have no idea what my schedule is for the rest of the year. I should know in early spring, though (hopefully).

Re: Adventure Force Storm Surge - Walmart CPS

This is definitely a good sign. I hope we find more new CPS blasters too, since this one seems a bit on the small side, but it's a welcome addition.

Re: New Linear Flow Valve

Hi Tim, I'm glad you're making progress on this design! It's unfortunate that there is still a slow leak after all that work, but that's part of the design (and re-design) process. I appreciate you offering me the chance to evaluate the valve, but I don't have any means to test it here at UCLA, unfo...

Re: MOAB 2016 (Official Thread)

Unfortunately I can't come now. I got a hamstring strain nearly 3 weeks ago (I think the day after my last post) and it's taking too long to heal. I can't run at the moment. And I need rest for it to heal correctly. I was looking forward to this battle, but I'm not gonna do any good injuring myself ...

Re: New Linear Flow Valve

Thanks for the additional clarification. Yeah, the stoke/travel of the trigger system always is always an issue, it seems. It's never really short enough. The McMaster part and Travel Agent seem like a good plan.

Re: New Linear Flow Valve

Tim, your design looks quite good. It seems to fix all of the problems that I encountered that led me to abandon this kind of valve before. Here are few things that I especially like: 1) The seals are minimal but also redundant. I originally intended to use a rubber cylinder in the final design, but...

Re: New Linear Flow Valve

Wow, cool animation! Certainly better than my ancient MacDraw gif! Is that a design of yours Tim, or is that a pre-made part? I remember looking for a pre-made part like this valve design at the time, but didn't find anything worthwhile. This certainly fits the bill, though, and should perform much ...

Re: Southern California Soaker League

I'm definitely interested. I live in LA at the moment, but I'm from the east coast. I haven't really found anybody on the west coast that was interested so far (or even did it when they were children, in fact). I was starting to think water gunning was an east coast thing, actually, but I'm glad you...
