Here's another case of a ruptured ear drum from a Spyra: https://www.reddit.com/r/supersoaker/co ... th_spyras/
I thought what CDMT posted was just an isolated incident, but now I'm not so sure.

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
The easiest way to go from 1/4" ID tubing to 1/2" ID tubing would be to use a reducing barbed fitting like this: https://www.mcmaster.com/5372K519/
You'll also need tubing clamps the right size for both tubes, as well.

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
That's a strong spring. I'd recommend using a weaker spring as you don't need one that strong to close the valve and the trigger will probably be hard to pull with this spring. Also, this spring could be dangerous. Be careful with this spring in the current setup. Your current setup is putting a lot...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
As I wrote on the LRT guide on SSC , scissors work: Cutting LRT can be done with scissors. Cut using the part of the scissor blade closest to the joint for maximum leverage. Cutting rubber is odd--it bounces back and the thickness makes it hard to cut. The part of the blade closest to the joint has ...

Re: Spyra's non-electric blaster: "LX"
Nice find. Watching that video, I can definitely see the advantage of the LX at closer distances.
Storm Surge on the WWN Discord also noted that the LX's shots look bad initially, but once the valve is fully open, the jet looks smooth. That's something Spyra should consider in the next version.

Re: Rusted water blaster works again?
There are a lot of techniques to handle rusty screws. Here are some pages I found by Googling "removing rusty screws":

Re: Rusted water blaster works again?
Hi, welcome to WWN. It certainly is possible that a problem could have been temporary. For instance, if some solid was clogging the blaster and preventing it from pumping or firing, continued use might dislodge the clog. (Though more likely, continued use would simply make the clog worse.) As for yo...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
Now I'd recommend 3 inch PVC drain pipe. The 4 inch pipe I have in the parts list was too large, causing the bladder to flop around inside the case, and making the blaster larger and heavier than necessary.

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
Yes, I would recommend sliding the tubing over as large a barbed fitting as you're able to securely slide it over. In my case, whatever I reported in the SuperCPS article is as large as I was able to. You want the barbed fitting to be large to reduce pressure losses. I'm not sure what you mean by "P...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
Some LRT is prone to bursting. I've found that the thickest smaller diameter tubes off McMaster-Carr tend to burst no matter what I do and I recommend against using them for that reason. (Particularly filling them with air as the bursting will cause hearing damage.) The tube I recommend on SSC works...

Re: General CPS-type maintenance questions
Since we're here, I admit I am a little confused on (at least ;) ) one point. You mentioned putting the internals underwater to identify where the leak is, but also suggested, as an alternative, 'cover[ing] them in water'. What's the difference? Sorry, I was unclear. The difference would be the dep...

Re: Potentially a way to clean sun bleached super soakers
It probably will work. From what I've read the yellowing is caused by a fire retardant added to the plastic. https://www.howtogeek.com/196687/ask-htg-why-do-old-computers-and-game-consoles-turn-yellow/ I haven't tried it myself, but my CPS 1000 could use this treatment as part of its restoration! Ed...

Re: General CPS-type maintenance questions
1) The standard Super Soaker reservoir caps of that era allow air to flow into the reservoir (but not out to prevent water leaks), so unless the cap is damaged, I don't see any need to leave the cap open when pumping. If the pump pulls in air, that could of course lead to a mist-shot. So you might n...

Re: Spyra's non-electric blaster: "LX"
Welcome to WWN, James G.! Only 9 m range!?! Is that angled range or flat? Spyra can do better than that. If that range is right then I suspect this product may have had less development time than they'd like, so they might not have been able to fully optimize it. Likely the Spyra LX2 would have bett...

Re: Super soaker CPS 2000 mk2
There are three valves here and you labelled the valves correctly. The pink valve sounds like the problem. It sounds like the pink valve is not sealing well. The pink valve malfunctioning as described should not reduce the power. I strongly recommend against cutting these valves open. Someone here m...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
If you're going to be using the original nozzle, I don't recommend upgrading the tubing size as that's not likely to improve performance much if at all. I can't make a specific recommendation in terms of tubing size aside from that the original internal tubing is not likely large enough. 1/2" PVC pi...

By "flow system", I mean the combination of the pressure chamber, firing valve, tubing leading from the pressure chamber to the valve to the nozzle, and nozzle.

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster
I was really hoping the range around 50-60 how could I do this I'm not sure it's possible to get 50 to 60 feet of range using the existing nozzle. As I said, "you can't upgrade a tricycle to perform like a monster truck." There are serious limits to how much you can increase the performance while u...
