Re: Frozen Fury/or other War

Would you be interested if we have another warm winter? Christmas Eve last year was in the 70s. Christmas Eve was warmer than it is right now. If we want to have a real Frozen Fury, we can totally do something unusual and epic. However, road trips need a Plan B in case of heavy snowfall. Late Dec-ea...

Re: Meet Ups in VA and MD

The reeds should still be up into at least mid-October. Danbury Greenway's reeds last that long, and Danbury is one growing zone north of Ridgewood. If this fall is really hot like predicted, they'll last longer. They wouldn't be as full or as tall as summer, but they'd be up. Then again, NJ doesn't...

Re: Meet Ups in VA and MD

What would people think about having a meetup war in NJ, specifically on the old Waterbridge and Goffle battlefields? A 3 hour war at Waterbridge, a lunch break somewhere in Ridgewood, and then a 3 hour war at Goffle (or just 3 at Waterbridge)? I'm considering having this instead of Frozen Fury, as ...

Re: Meet Ups in VA and MD

I'm up for anything if available, but my ability to drive down to MD is kind of limited at the moment. Working on getting back into shape, which will fix most of those issues, but that will take a while. There's only one place I can currently cross the Hudson and only one place I can cross the Susqu...

Re: What Makes a Good Battle?

I actually think we have far more offense-oriented players than defense-oriented. There is more to good defense than avoiding hits - things like keeping top opponents out of the rest of the battle, controlling vital territory, heading off opponents' moves, stalling for time/milking the clock, wastin...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

My ideal onboard reservoir size is probably around 2.5 to 3 liters. That is the range of capacity from a CPS 1200 to a 2000, and all I really need. One option I've thought about is a portable gasoline canister. They are lightweight, but strong, wide, but stable, and come in a variety of shapes and s...

Re: Next generation rubber CPS homemade water gun planning

I'll be watching this project with a lot of interest - next gen homemade designs are very exciting and overdue. What about constructing a shell/support material out of poly cutting board? Nerf homemade builders often use this in place of polycarb plate, as cutting board is cheaper and more durable (...

I believe it's a Toys 'R Us exclusive, which is why you haven't seen it. We're all smart enough not to shop there.

Re: Pick three (3) new water blasters

I count the Waterlord as 2016 because it was not released in the US in 2015. It didn't just "lack availability", it was not released. There was no way to get one in 2015 that didn't involve a cross-border transaction. The Canadian Waterlord is also slightly different than the American one. The actua...

Re: Pick three (3) new water blasters

1. Gargantua 2. Waterlord 3. ? My list is the same as Ben's for similar reasons. The Gargantua has good performance, good capacity, and great handling. It is easier for a wider range of people to use than a Waterlord. Waterlords are very top heavy, the grips are small and slippery, and it takes more...

Re: Standardizing Hits

I'm reminded of the old Ridgewood war hit rules a bit here. In those wars, only hits to the shirt counted. A direct stream of any size counted, and splatter covering at least a fist-sized area counted. In the event of a hit dispute, the game was mandatorily paused for everyone. Disputes had the same...

Re: Standardizing Hits

The below-the-knees thing stems from how shoes and ankles tend to be already wet from mud, wading, wet plants, morning dew, all manner of nature, and thus virtually impossible to check. Shoe hits are also usually impossible to feel, and neither shooter nor target usually even sees where that water l...

Re: Nerf is "best-performing brand" at Hasbro

Explaining the strength in Nerf in an era where kids play Angry Birds for hours on their iPad boils down to a constant stream of innovation for the brand and relatively affordable prices for the blasters. Oddly, the NIC more or less takes the exact opposite opinion - that Hasbro's innovation in the...

Re: MOAB 2016 (Official Thread)

I really like it, looks great for night battles as well. I'd actually bother to make a new camo cover for whatever gun still works if we fight there, can't risk being spotted until you step on me... Not sure when I'll be available or not that far down the road. August is very busy, September and bey...

Re: Soakemore 2016

David, Van, Danny, and I most likely will not arrive until midnight on Friday AT THE EARLIEST. It will be more like 2 AM. School schedules, traffic patterns, bridges, shunpiking, not meeting at Newark, it's all a clusterfuck. I'm ok with a late night drive, I'm designed for them, but it sucks for mo...

Re: Soakemore 2016

Rain at the Labyrinth doesn't matter since almost every boardwalk is covered. Sycamore Island has lots of large trees (I'm assuming they are sycamore trees?) and we could retreat inside the clubhouse to wait out a downpour. Rounds at the Labyrinth need to be kept simple, with minimal switching of ge...

Re: Soakemore 2016

Sam and I were discussing actually bringing homemades. I think he has an APH, I can whip together a light APH, and we have water cannons or launchers. For night rounds, we'll want to use guns that hold a lot of water, or don't go through their water supply quickly. I'll probably just use a 1200 for ...

Re: New Game Mechanic: Hostages!

I've given this more thought, and I think that hostages should be restricted to games with lots of players. Consider your typical 4v4 CTF. You send 2 guys out to attack, they are hit around the enemy base, and then captured. The smaller team is now essentially fucked. They do not have enough players...
