Re: My CPH just shot over 70 Ft!

I'll have to play around lubricants (most likely silicone). Was just curious. The 6" nozzle is very smooth inside and is not stepped either; I made sure of that and is why I brought locally ($7.95). The 2" nozzle got 64' last drop, 58-60 effective (like Ben's did). The red one is not as good, little...

Re: My CPH just shot over 70 Ft!

Question (maybe for Ben?); would lubricating (with silicone grease) the inside of a brass nozzle help reduce drag/friction? Creating a smoother thin layer between the water and the wall. From what I gather, there is usually a slow moving thin layer of fluid/water between the wall and the rest of the...

My CPH just shot over 70 Ft!

I don't know if this is okay in a separate thread (let me know otherwise). The CPH I've been working on just shot 71' 4" to the last drop, about 70' to the last puddle. No wind/breeze detected. This was achieved with a 6" long (1/4" orifice) smooth brass tapered nozzle paired with a 3/4" x 3" 'lamin...

Re: Homemade Splashzooka

I've revamped the design the allow for very quick refills with a quick disconnect and one way valve. See pics. https://www.dropbox.com/s/sa6joe19uag7ofo/20160915_064802.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/6syotliurb8pu7u/20160915_064813.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/24hh5n9mrjay8dp/20160915_0648...

Re: Tyler's Shoulder Fired CPH

Back on topic. This has 3 LRT layers again (replaced the 3/8" tube with a 1/2"), 1/2" x 7/8", 3/4" x 1-1/8", 1" x 1.5". Two things I have learned; it's easy to layer LRT with the same OD as the ID of the next one; and it's possible to layer with a bigger OD than the next tubes ID. Hopefully that mak...

Re: Tyler's Shoulder Fired CPH

Oh, in the picture I was hiding my face on purpose too. ;) Having water balloons and shields in play are pretty cool, especially when you can block all the incoming balloons with a shield, it's a little "epic" (we had four shields total). I think I got hit more by balloons than by soaker (they could...

marauder wrote:Wow, this is really cool. How many people were you playing against/with?

I think about 20 or so altogether at the peak, (ages from adults to kids). Had some good rules set up. Went through at least 2000 water balloons. Kept playing after it got dark, great fun!

Re: Tyler's Shoulder Fired CPH

So today I got in a one foot of 1" X 1.5" LRT piece and managed to wrangle it over the middle 3/4" x 1-1/8" piece, for a total of 10/16" (5/8") wall thickness (3 tubes, 35, 25, 30 PSI). While I was testing different nozzles and laminators for range my inner 3/8" tube popped again (all this is in hea...

Re: Tyler's Shoulder Fired CPH

I've used silicone grease on the barb before, but sometimes I haven't. Just alot of strength by hand and patience. I usually put a 1/2" barb in first, then a 5/8, and then i try the 3/4". It was a grey sch80 barb (longer than the standard white ones). Actually I have to use a longer barb cause the h...

Tyler's Shoulder Fired CPH

So I built this for a war we had yesterday (it's basically a a SuperCPS). https://www.dropbox.com/s/3946ny3c3xc3fng/20160904_112528.jpg?dl=0 It's one of the the most ergonomic soakers I've shot! I'm able to shoulder fire it quite comfortably which gives it a height advantage. https://www.dropbox.com...

Re: Homemade Splashzooka

So I was finally able to measure the straws in the laminator, they are 3mm edge to edge (OD).
I'm going to be upgrading this since I discovered that my home water pressure is high enough to fill up two layers of LRT (by hose), so I will be adding a second layer.

Re: CPS 2000 help

Is the bladder filling up?
Is the nozzle clogged?

I had a CPS1000 that would pressurize much or shoot far cause the check valves and nozzle was clogged with grass.

I'm sure there's other possible issues that others on here could bring up.

It was $2 at Ace hardware. I will have to measure the straws, I'm not sure right now. They are from a Kroger owned grocery store.

Re: Homemade Splashzooka

Just out of curiosity, what nozzle setup gives you the best performance? I built an APH when I was around 16, see this thread below from 2009. When my CPH is done I can post that too, if it works. ;) http://forums.sscentral.org/showthread.php?t=5606 I actually popped the LRT on the homemade splashzo...

Re: Layering LRT & Inner Tubing

Last night I replaced one of the hose barbs with a longer one (3/4" diameter, yeah that took a while and talk about flow!) and that seems to fix the unevenness & slip issue (there's more space for the hose clamp to grab. Still curious about the inner tubing though. BTW, just using silicone and 'elbo...

Layering LRT & Inner Tubing

So I have read every thread I could find on here and sscentral on LRT, inner tubes, and CPH's; and still couldn't find out how others have dealt with my issue. I will try to detail as clearly as possible with pictures. I'm building a 'supercps' and my wife and I managed to layer the two layers of LR...

Re: Homemade Splashzooka

I saw his leftovers one. To put this together it literally screws together and then drill one hole. This one fills from the nozzle, I take the red nozzle off and screw on the double hose adaptor (been trying to get a 'bunch-O-balloons' quick adapter to fit/seal, but not yet). Unlike my APH where the...

Homemade Splashzooka

I'm sure this has been made before (I think Ben made something similar years ago), but I made this from some extra LRT from a CPH I'm currently building. It was a fun and quick little project. Fills up from a water hose in under 10 seconds. Specs/Materials 46ft range to last drop (varies with slight...
