Re: Larami 1987 Water Laser Blaster Internals

No worries about the late reply. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the context of this. I imagined that at one point water guns had to start looking less like real guns but I never learned much about this until your post. I also never thought of Laramie having water guns before the Super S...

Re: CPS 4100 repairs

You'd have more success if you used better materials, took some measurements, and came up with a design on paper. I suggest visiting a hardware store or home improvement store. How did you attempt to use a coat hanger? You will need some sort of metal rod to connect the lever on the firing valve ass...

Interesting, do you have any more information about this particular gun? I've never heard of it before.

Re: poll of the week

I voted 1/2" but in general I prefer the diameter of 1/2" schedule 40 PVC, which is closer to 5/8" in reality. I've tried 3/4" but pumping becomes too hard too quickly. 5/8" is a good compromise.

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster

That's an interesting way to mount the parts! Prototyping and testing are always good idea. I'd take some measurements to make sure you can replicate it when it's no longer mounted to the table. Could you explain the photos a bit more? I am confused about what the pieces are at either end of the bal...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster

Ben raises a good point, though I should point out that whenever I used 4-inch drain pipe, I attached a 4-inch circular piece of plastic to end bolt to act as a guide for the bladder is it expands. That eliminates the problem Ben talks about, in my experience. It appears that I never took any photos...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster

I only recall one time when the LRT burst and it was for a tube that was quite worn out and highly used. That is why a case for the LRT is important, because it will contain any issues if failure were to occur. 4 inch drain pipe is thin only by comparison for schedule 40 pipe. It is certainly thick ...

Re: Semi homemade CPS with pieces from a XSHOT blaster

1. This depends on the performance you want, but if you are going to layer the inner tube should have an outer diameter less than the inner diameter of the outer tube. You won't be able to slide the inner tube inside the outer tube otherwise! 2. I do not know what others will say, but I've had succe...

Re: Spyra's non-electric blaster: "LX"

Personally I have found Spyra's water guns to be interesting but never compelling enough for me to buy them. To me, the "single shot" aspect seems like a gimmick but I suppose some people could want it. That said, based on my cursory view of Spyra's website, their LX blaster seems to be an interesti...

Re: Crazy trigger valve idea

That seems like a good idea. You will take the best parts of this gun and make something even better. The nozzle assembly especially would be difficult to make, and reservoirs usually are hard to pull off right too without making something very heavy. You seem to have more than enough tools and work...

Re: Crazy trigger valve idea

Do the valves close by thereselves Edit : any suggestions on how to do the PC If you are talking about the valves Ben linked to on McMaster-Carr, the page says at the top that the valves "spring closed when the lever is released". So you can assume that these valves do close by themselves. As to th...

Re: Crazy trigger valve idea

I'm with Ben here. I do not think that this gun is worth modifying. That said, if you want to modify it, I suggest starting out slow. A trigger system is an advanced modification here and well beyond most people's abilities to construct for this kind of gun. I certainly do not know how I would integ...

Re: Crazy trigger valve idea

I would like to see a photo of what you did sounds interesting. part of the reason that I thought is this what I want to turn a pump action pistol to a pressurized reserved gun. I was talking about my Riptide homemade water gun in particular. The thread has several photos of the trigger mechanism. ...

Re: Crazy trigger valve idea

This is a pretty interesting idea. As Ben said, though, the issue becomes the tradeoff between how long of a trigger pull you want versus how much trigger weight you want. My experience is that some ball values are quite difficult to open (they require a lot of torque), so you would want a larger ge...

Re: 3D Printed SS100 Clone

Yes! This is one of the most interesting projects I've seen on here in a while. I would recommend improving the grip, though, perhaps by using using a real pistol grip. I used one on my own homemades previously and it was a good choice. You can of course also 3D print one, which would fit with the r...

Re: Broken CPS 2000 mk. 2, selling for shipping cost

Well I blame coronavirus and droughts for partially killing demand for water guns at the moment. I second that. When I lived in California it was like nobody was interested in water guns, because they could not waste any water due to the drought. I realized that this is going to be an East Coast ho...

This is a great and simple design. Your video is also great since it shows both how quickly (and easily) it charges and how far it shoots. Good work all around! I honestly thought that all of the bladders would fill together, but your gun is making me rethink that assumption. My guess is that the pr...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Homework

Interesting! The graphic is fairly accurate, though I would not think it would be difficult nowadays to find schematics for designs like this. The problem doesn't give enough information. You have to assume at least something, and that means that the answers could vary by a lot. It gives a 30 foot h...

Re: Great Ball Valve

I've just tended to use 3/8 inch brass ball valves from local hardware stores. I think the answer depends on the situation. For high performance guns I would prefer 1 inch ball valves, though they are much harder to open. But for the kind of guns I've tried to design over the years (more ergonomic o...

Re: Spyra Two now available for pre-order

I am impressed by the quality of the designs that Spyra puts out but I really do not understand the design choices made nonetheless. Spyra seems to treat a water gun like a Nerf gun with a set number of shots. I've always wondered if this design choice was to try to appeal to the Nerf market and thi...
