Sounds like a nice war overall, and I'm looking forward to part 2.

Re: Recommendarions on good blaster

Welcome to WaterWar.net. The Spyra One is probably the most powerful blaster on the market, but it's fairly expensive and apparently out of stock right now. (Full disclosure: I did some consulting for them.) Some of the copycat blasters are indeed good and comparable to the old CPS series. (Some see...

Re: Long Range CPS 3200 Replacement

Very nice work. I recall being impressed your accumulator tank water guns before and that continues here. I'm also impressed with the trigger. I think the ergonomics could improve, but it's a step in the right direction. Which accumulator tank are you using for this? I might buy a similar one myself...

Re: 2020 vertical jet tests

I have changed the plan to instead do the tests indoors. I have found a source of precision micro-scale apertures that I could use to scale down the experiments so that they will fit within the space available, and also hopefully not require particularly high pressures. I ordered a 50 μm aperture th...

Re: best water gun

We have an answer to this question on the old SSC frequently asked questions page , quoted here: Which gun is the best? Which gun shoots the farthest? Which gun is the best for this year? Which gun should I choose? "What is the best super soaker ever" is the kind of ambiguous question that you will ...

Re: 2020 vertical jet tests

No, I haven't posted this before. I was keeping it under wraps for various reasons. I'm posting this with the understanding that this is a work in progress, and new experiments might invalidate it or adjust the constant. d_0 = (C_d* / R*_opt) * R In the equation above, d_0 is the optimal nozzle diam...

Re: 2020 vertical jet tests

Is this something you could put into spreadsheet formulas and share via Google Sheets? Or Share via Google Drive if maintained in Excel instead of Google Sheets? The theoretical optimal nozzle diameter equation is quite simple. You wouldn't really need a spreadsheet for it but could use one if you ...

Re: 2020 vertical jet tests

The posts above were made before the pandemic and seem rather distant now. :-( I'm planning some new outdoor experiments once it starts to warm up. The indoor vertical jet case is fairly limited by the ceiling height, and given that I don't have access to any building with a ceiling higher than 9 fe...

Ben, it would be good to have you close by! Did you get a position with a University?
I'm working for the patent office in northern Virginia, remotely for the moment.

I found a map, though I'm not quite sure where each photo is: https://southcarolinaparks.com/landsford-canal/maps-and-brochures I'll be moving to Virginia sometime this year so maybe I could join you all in the future, but not any time soon. Re: 2021 Adventure Force Soakers - Including a Pressurized One!

Thanks for posting. That spring mechanism is quite interesting, and a good way to reduce the pumping force. Almost reminds me of the proposals to use telescopic tubes of progressively smaller diameter to reduce the pumping force as pressure gets higher (I believe there are some existing e.g. bike pu...

Nice video. I'm impressed by the number of views in less than a week. I'd recommend linking to WWN as I think we need all the advertising we could get.

Hopefully my schedule will clear out next year and I can make a few homemade water gun videos of my own...

Great find. I suppose the female version of the same fitting will work for those who want a replacement for broken QFDs?

I saw some comments on the photos. Did you post this elsewhere? I'm always looking to find others interested in water guns.

Re: Your Armory

Living in Hawaii without A/C my wife and I have water gun fights to cool off. For battles my wife prefers the one I made her in on the bottom left with the red band of duct tape across the tank because it's powerful and much quicker to pressurize than the larger CPS guns. She also likes the Spyras ...

Re: CPS 1200 pump not working, does not pump water

This is a hard one. No obvious issues from the photos. My guess is that what broke is inside the valves and not visible. Most likely the first check valve broke or is clogged. Look down the open end that leads to the first check valve. (Front-most green part in the second photo.) Can you see anythin...

Re: 13M CPS Chinese knock off blaster What?!!(Super Shooter CPS 5000)

Really glad to hear this is a good clone. Where did you buy the Water Gun 9000? I couldn't find any on eBay.

The flimsiness might be okay if we can reinforce the blaster. I'd recommend putting a dowel rod inside of the pump rod, possibly epoxying it in place for extra strength.

Re: CPS 1200 pump not working, does not pump water

More information is needed in order to figure out what broke. Can you upload a photo of the internals of the water gun? A close up shot of the valves the pump is attached to would be most useful, but others could be helpful too. Which tube are you referring to when you say "no water is being pumped ...

Re: YouTube homemade water guns

https://youtu.be/u5wfqGp2Q-E This one looks like it would be fun if it was scaled up. Nice find. I'd be wary of using that in an actual water war due to the exposed batteries, but the power is better than I expected. Scaled up and with the batteries in a sealed compartment that could be a very nice...

Re: CPS 2500 nozzle selector broke on my first time using it.. Any idea on how to repair it?

It seems a little extreme to "swap out" the front part. That's the entire firing chamber, you can detach the rubber pressure chamber fairly easily but removing the intake tube has a high chance to crack in my experience, and at that point you might as well swap out the pump assembly as well. As far...
