Re: Tactics: Bases
Like Waterwolf mentioned, WBLs and heavier weapons will easily blast away simple fortifications; actually, even a hand thrown water balloon can have some effect. Many times I've organized games with cardboard, rope and trees given to the players, and by game-end, they were mostly destroyed, and we d...

Re: Tactics: The Scout
In my opinion, the primary goal of a scout on the big map is to communicate and relay information as quickly as possible. While RTS games give the commander a panoramic view of the battle situation, the perspective of a field commander can be and will most likely be blurred by the ruckus of even a l...

Re: Tactics: Sniper
While some of the advice given is sound, for example being hidden and not wearing bright neon clothing as well as a good field of vision, I think the idea of sniping might lend itself too much to confusion with the real military idea of sniping with a rifle. Remember that we're only using water guns...

Re: How to Promote Water Warfare
On reflection, taking into context just the local situation in Singapore, we need guns. Good commercial guns. I agree with Ben in the respect that homemade guns with much higher capabilities than the current stock guns will be a great help in generating interest. However, the number of homemade guns...

Now that the new year's starting, along with the recruitment drive and annual inaugural wargames, I hope to get some pictures of the tank for the online community. In the meantime, would anyone like to suggest feasible types/variants of vehicle mounted weapons? Some input would be good, or at the l...

Yup, it's feet powered, flintstone style, crew stands up. During heavy combat, the hatches may be closed and the crew would be forced to be crouch a little, which would be uncomfortable for extended periods. Thus, the top is openable during small engagements and out-of-combat (like supply duties), ...

Took it for a long run, at varying speeds, and found some problems: 1. Certain sections of pipe coming off at times 2. The pipes didn't always fit in perfectly tight Solved with a few lengths of string. Wheels a little stubborn, but i can loosen the caster screws a little. Actual combat would proba...

After some work and patience, the Tank Project has produced a basic chassis: http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/8324/img9967sz8.th.jpg The gaps have yet to be filled in of course, I'll probably work on it later, along with the roof and rear, but for now the areas with heavy armour are finished. The...

I normally fight in urban, as most should know. Noticed not many players fight in multi-storey urban complexes. It's also interesting how different styles of fighting and tech development evolved in different environments, maybe I'll write my take on that some time. Although I haven't fought in com...

Normally I don't like to keep POWs, even if the game rules allow it. I wouldn't like to be held as a POW by my opponents, and hence release surrendered opponents in the hope that they'll reciprocate if I or any allies were captured. Besides, it's more honourable to use the water in your soaker to d...

Hmm, that's too bad. Though instead of "retiring" per se, you could just stay less active, and when the chance comes, resume. As a younger member, I can't fully sympathize with your difficulties, but I suppose it's your personal choice. Although if time permits, stay on the forums. Or even particip...

In urban settings, fast response is required for even normal engagements as sometimes we bump into each other suddenly. Therefore, my weapon of choice would be a light gun, unless I wear armour, in which case I can afford to carry a larger gun due to less need to dodge. Besides, heavy weaponry's ef...

Looking at it, I would greatly prefer the castors. Was wondering what they were called, since I saw them on heavy carts before. One problem is just how to attach them to the frame, as the pipe is circular and the castor meant to fit onto a flat surface. DIY here is more geared toward businesses rat...

Ah, you reminded me of a point I missed in my original post, I'll edit it in as it's rather important, thanks. Actually, we will be travelling mainly on concrete/pavement, urban surfaces, because our battlefield is our school. Though there is a certain area in the road where there are many potholes...

The Tank Project A year ago in 2006, our group had attempted to build an armoured water warfare vehicle for use in combat. Complications occurred due to the instability of the initial design’s wooden frame and the project was put on hold until a month ago when the project was revived. In early May ...

I suppose it depends on the openness of the new guy. If the new member is willing to learn, then he would naturally observe the behaviour/tone of the veteran members and emulate it, producing the effect you have observed. Conversely, put two veterans or a new but un-open player together, and the ef...
