Picked up a Hydra Pak

I've never owned a backpack blaster before, but I've always wanted to have a massive supply of water handy. Unfortunately, the CPS 3000/3200 is prohibitively expensive, the SS 300 has too few nozzle options for my purposes, and the SC packs depend on QFDs. So when I saw a rare Hydra Pak on eBay for ...

SpyraGO Released

The Verge gives a good rundown of this new 'lite' option. Pros: • It can be refilled by traditional means, making it viable when you don't have a water refilling station. • It can fire more shots total than other Spyra blasters, and it has a faster fire rate. • The battery life is longer than previ...

XXP 275 Review (Re: Choosing a water sprayer)

I got the XXP 275 today. It looks and works great, considering it's 27 years old, and I thought I'd offer a traditional review with points and some commentary, based on my testing. I think my expectations and perspective are different from the mainstream water blaster enthusiast's, so this may be he...

The Curious XXP 175

While I was looking on eBay, for something else, I saw that apparently these are really 'in' right now; there's probably 5+ for sale from various people, more than you would expect given that it was produced for a short time. A reference list of some of its odd characteristics: • It has dual nozzles...

Re: Choosing a fun 'water sprayer' blaster - long read

A lot of times, people post threads like this and never reply. I don't want to be 'that guy', especially since I've made a few posts on this forum and there's a good chance I'll do so again, so I thought I'd provide a followup on what I ended up doing and why. First, thanks to y'all for taking the t...

Choosing a fun 'water sprayer' blaster - long read

Occasionally there are events here where we rent out a water slide and have a day 'out in the sun'. Given that it is very hot in Texas summers, and that there tends to be downtime between kids and youth getting up and going down the slide, I figured last year that it wouldn't be a bad idea to spray ...

Another Jurassic Park Dino Hunter's Gear

10+ years ago someone put one up on eBay. Now there's another one. Of course, it would be a 'best offer' deal; as he mentions in the description, he isn't seriously trying to sell it for the list price.

It's a shame that nobody will probably ever get to find out how well these work as blasters.

SpyraThree released

This apparently just happened yesterday, so I guess I'm on the cutting edge. The official page does an imperfect job explaining the difference between this and the Two. Fortunately, their Linkedin announcement helped me to piece it together. Apparently the blaster has something that controls the "ga...

Orca Mk2 details

I may have the chance to pick up an Orca Mk2. I know it doesn't have as much power as true CPSes, but it still has more than enough for anything that a casual player is likely to run into today, and if there are no glaring problems, the price looks good. I've never used one before, so I'm curious if...

Re: Spyra's non-electric blaster: "LX"

This reviewer, "Voyager Entertainment" does mention one interesting advantage for the LX: although its shots are visibly worse than the Two's, it also has a much better refire rate. That suggests that the Two is better for a ranged, precision game, while the LX is better at applying pressure up clo...

Re: General CPS-type maintenance questions

Well, I investigated it a bit more, and it seems that issues 2 and 3 are related: when the pump is extended, there is a notable hissing sound from somewhere (it did sound like the tank cap to me, but perhaps my sound localization is awry), and a small water leak (enough to be annoying, though not en...

General CPS-type maintenance questions

It's been a long time since I've used a working CPS-type blaster; unfortunately, when I was younger and dumber, and didn't have any venue to use them in, I didn't put the proper amount of effort into maintaining my old blasters. They may still be reparable (if I can open them up, it's possible there...

Re: Water guns that can be fired angled up or down

I have some similar usage cases to yours, so I've thought about the problem a fair amount. I'm curious if the Super Charger line (500/600) would be suitable for your (or my) case. They're light, have good firing times, are CPSes, and seem to go for fairly reasonable prices (well, compared to any oth...

Spyra's non-electric blaster: "LX"

This is fairly recent news, and hasn't been posted about yet, so I thought I would make a thread noting it. Spyra recently introduced a new "LX" blaster, which looks similar to the Spyra Two, but lacks the electric features. It appears to be refilled and powered (pressurized?) via a rear-mounted pum...
