Re: Unconventional high power water gun designs
Wow, I was just about to post how implementing a piston would be hard because of pushing it back and the air/water sources to make that happen, and on and on. Check, check, check, all that is solved, fantastic. There really is no way to exclude a piston without putting a 90 degree turn. Does the 3-W...

Re: New Linear Flow Valve
Tim, your linear valve is absolutely incredible. I just don't know what to say, its just so good. If this thread is still open for new ideas, I have an interesting one: a kink valve. Basically attach the pvc to a stiff garden hose and go back into pvc again. The two pvc sections connect together lik...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
It was difficult to find these videos and share it to you, but here they are. One video is of me with the 3/8'' nozzle and the other is with me doing the 1'' riot blast which I call shotgun mode. These videos are from two months ago. I set out to improve my cannon for a party a month ago, only to ta...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
You've explained your point well enough now. I've looked at irrigation sites and their figures for sprinkler range and flow capacity are a little higher but match close to yours. It is ratio of the areas (conservation of flow) which makes the water go faster and farther and the thickness of the stre...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
Thanks again for responding. PVC Unions do not leak. Here is a picture of one: PVC Union.jpg Basically the threads squeeze a flat PVC surface against the O-ring creating the seal. Although I have no definitive proof to show you yet, I have used a PVC Union to connect my air hose (leading to a brass ...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
Here is the complex design, which incorporates constant pressure: Complex Design Complex Design 2.png Its basically the simple design, but with two ways into the pressure chamber. When your pump pushes the piston back, air goes through the PVC check valve. When you fire the water gun, air goes only ...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
I'm starting to see that the standard version (not shown) is a waste of time. It's more complexity for no benefit. You could almost buy a bike pump and Schrader valve for the money it takes to make the accessories. I've removed it. I've updated the simple version with minor modifications; they shoul...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
Thanks for replying again, Drenchenator: I definitely agree with the things you are saying. The weight estimate was just a (meh, sounds about right) estimate. If its not close, I'll remove it. While I still believe 46 pounds is attainable, its definitely not for combat. There are some places that se...

Re: Potential Successor to APH
I made Sketchup drawings of two versions of my watergun. Both do not have a pressure regulator drawn in them yet (still figuring how to cost-effectively implement this), but one has a regular pump while the other has the (air/water) pump. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to post the Sketchup files...

Potential Successor to APH
Hi guys, this is my first post. I've been building homemade water guns for over a year in the style of a 2 inch diameter piston water cannon. It gets its air from 3/8 inch air hose wrapped around it so that I can have the cannon ready on standby and take the valve "safety" off whenever I want to fir...
