Your Ideal Team

Post by marauder » Sun Jan 13, 2013 11:28 pm

It's the spring of 2013 and the WWN League has expanded exponentially. You have formed a 10 man team of like minded individuals hell bent on a singular goal - to prove that you are the best water warfare team ever. To win it all this year your team must compete in a variety of events around the globe: CTF, 1hs, soakfests, elimination games, and more. Battlefields vary from intense deep jungle environments to indoor arenas with bunkers and trap doors. Be prepared for anything.

But first, you must equip your team with the blasters and equipment you believe will give you the best shot at winning it all. The league has mandated that each participant have only one blaster. In the event that a gun breaks during the action you will have to field repair it, proving your ability to take care of (and if not then to repair) your soakers.

CPS 1500

Hydrocannon 2500 w backpack

All guns have gillie covers. CPS 1500s also have 2.5x nozzles and pump reinforcements. All triggers are reinforced. My gun has a scope for spotting (but not shooting). Thermal would be preferred but that's so expensive it's beyond unrealistic. All players have waterballoon bandoliers (shoulder belts) though actual use will vary from game to game.

If you pick modded or homemade guns they must be previously documented, not something new and unproven. This is not an RPG, just a fun thread.

Sounds like my cup of tea. We need more threads like this.

I'd probably do something similar to M4, though I wouldn't have as many 2000s, and I'd add a few 2500s. Is a "Hydro Cannon 2500" a HC with a 2500 PC? I think I'd rather use a 2500. I'd probably go with mostly 2500s, 1500s, and/or 300s, with a few 2000s and possibly a WBL or even a water cannon if the environment works for them. This would mainly be for long OHK/OHS rounds. For games with defensive positions (HTL, CTF, etc.), I'd probably add a few 3000s/3200s, or 2700s if they're as powerful as mine. Actually, a 300 with a large homemade backpack (and maybe with the addition of a real trigger) would probably be the best defensive weapon ever.

But for one arsenal that fits all, I would probably do something like this:

SS 300 (homemade 10L backpack)
SS 300 (homemade 10L backpack)
CPS 2000
CPS 2000
CPS 1500
CPS 1500
CPS 1500
CPS 2500
CPS 2500
CPS 2500

The 300 users would be the heavy gunners (the strongest members of the team), the 2000 users would be the 'snipers' (the fastest, most accurate members), and the rest would form the bulk of the team (this assumes that none of the blasters are lemons). All guns would be camoed in one way or another, and each person would have a pocket full of water balloons, with maybe 2 or 3 filled ones, along with a water bottle or two for refilling. If it wasn't restricted to one gun per person, the 1500 users might have a WBL or water cannon as well. The leader would have binoculars, and each team member would have a cell phone or walkie talkie to communicate with.

I just wish guns like that were a little easier to get! :P

CPS 2000
CPS 2000
CPS 2000
CPS 2000
CPS 2250
CPS 2250
CPS 2250
CPS 2250
CPS 2700
CPS 2700

The 2000/2500 integration is my pick for the middle of the team, rather than the 1500 or 2500 or mods to either of those. It packs a >50ft punch at 10x. If the nozzle selector seal becomes misaligned, you can just take the selector off and you basically have a CPS 2000 with slightly lower output and slightly longer field life. Assuming everything is camo painted or covered, first-time enemies can't tell the difference between a 2250 and a 2500 until it shoots. A 2250 retains the ability to field-fill water balloons off its 5x nozzle.

I have 8 of the same base model for the interchangeability. When they break, replacement parts are easier to source, as they can come from either a 2000 or 2500.

I chose 2700s instead of 300s for my long field life guns. The 300 has the edge on range, pumping, and capacity, but the 2700 has the edge on output, blast factor, useful shot time, and refilling. It also has a trigger and has more field life unless you add nozzle choices to the 300. You can field-fill off 2 or 5x.

Water balloons and radios would be carried depending on the gametype and location, same for backpacks with extra water.

Oh yeah, I forgot about power mods. I would probably K-mod mod the 1500s, and I would either use 2250s (wouldn't they be called 2025s though?), or colossus modded 2500s depending on which gets more power. As for tankers, I would think that 3000s/3200s would be better than 2700s, though I would personally still go with 300s using homemade backpacks.

CPS Riptide (Homemade): http://www.waterwar.net/site_wwn/board/topic3905.html
CPS 2000
CPS 2000
CPS 2000
CPS 3000
CPS 2700
SS 300
CPS 1500 40 balloons k-mod, PRV spring replaced
CPS 1500
CPS 1500

All guns have gillie covers, all triggers are reinforced. CPS 1500s have 2.5/3x nozzles, 15x nozzles(just in case), and pumps are reinforced.
CPS 3000 has 3x nozzle added to selector (If possible, not sure). CPS 3000 also has colossus/PC replacement so it get 45ft on 5x, if it doesn't already have that range.
All guns without backpacks have 2x 2 liter refill bottles for long missions. All guns have water balloon bandoliers.
If everyone could have secondaries, they would either be SC powerpaks for everyone, or leftovers (With metal ball valves) for everyone. (Leftovers are far cheaper, and less rare, it would be easier with leftovers.)
EDIT: I was actually the first one to start posting, but then I had to leave it unfinished for a while, so SEAL and DX got there first.
I also forgot to say, that for night missions, everyone would have one bright LED light, and one dim red flashlight.
Also, two people would have binoculars, and they would also have radios.

2250 respects the original modder, like with the 1100. However, it is physically a 2025. The thing I like about that integration is that it is the most painless and risk-free power mod ever, relative to the gains. The only true drawback is the consumption of a 2000 bladder, which usually involves giving up a 2000. I've had bad experiences with K-modding 1500s. If I needed to use 1500s, I'd actually keep them stock. 3000/3200 range sucks. Ben may have had good ones, but I've yet to see one that doesn't struggle to hit 42ft. A 3000 that could get its 5x and 10x to mid 40s would be great. It's really all perspective and which models you've seen that outperform or underperform the average.

The CPS Riptide fixes that. It has the power of a cps 2000, but is backpack based, and a VERY large PC and Res. And it is about the length of a 3000. I would have two riptides instead of one riptide and one 3000, but Riptides are very expensive to build. (I calculated around $170).

My team is based on what is best

2 Super Soaker 300's heavy Weapons Officer
8 Super Soaker CPS 2025's 2 for snipping 6 for infantry.
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity. :oo:

10 XP 215s, done and done. Bow to my might.

Now, let me try to do this seriously:
Of course, I have to take personal preference out of this and make the assumption that all players do just as well with whatever blaster they're given (actually not true for me, gimme a WW Lightning or XP 110 and I'll be better than if I had a big CPS. Proven fact). So, strategically, without cheating like M4 and giving everyone water balloons...

-Water Cannon (inverted tee)
-Water Cannon (shipverted mee)
-CPS 2500
-CPS 2500
-CPS 2500
-SS 300
-SS 300
-CPS 12k
-CPS 12k
-CPS 12k
All camped in a firetruck...
with offroad capabilities...
and a bulldozer mounted up front...
and a license to mow down trees...

9 guys wielding Nerf Super Soaker Electrostorms and/or Nerf Super Soaker Arctic Shocks
1 guy with a Super Soaker CPS 2500

The first 9 guys would be out front to engage the enemy team first. Once the enemy team is too busy laughing their heads off over the opposition, the 10th guy would come in and quickly dispatch the opposing team from a safe distance. In the event that some members of the opposing team managed to recompose themselves after seeing a group of 9 people charging them with Electrostorms, those 9 team members would subsequently serve as "meat shields" to protect the one guy with the CPS 2500. :goofy:

That said, in more seriousness, while wanting a team comprised mostly of Players using top-calibre classic air pressure and CPS-class weaponry would be fun, to put a spin on things., besides homemades and some modded blasters that can still be easily obtained, how would your optimal team look based on the stock blasters that are on the market (made in 2012 or new for 2013)?

6 Gorgons and 4 Colossi. That was easy :p

Actually, maybe not so easy.

6 backpack-modded Hydrocannons
2 Gorgons
2 Colossi

2 Colossus
4 Gorgons
4 Hydrocannons with camelbaks and LRT PCs with custom nozzles around the same size of a CPS 2000 nozzle

I would probably drill out the smallest nozzle on the Colossus, but I'm not sure yet. Will have to experiment. The problem with having too many Hydrocannons is that shot time is low and pump time is high. Duke Soak 'Em came up with a mod that increased pump volume, but it was still less than that of a CPS 2000 while the output was still 2000 esque. I have an idea for increasing pump volume even further which hopefully I can post about sometime in the future.
