Gorgon vs Orca

Post by marauder » Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:50 am

I was looking at these 2 designs and thinking what many of you have probably thought before - wow these are similar! Yet, there are several difference between the 2 models, not least of which being the air pressure vs cps (ok, elastic, whatever) firing chambers.

Take a look at the internals for instance:
http://www.isoaker.com/Tech/Internals/i ... orgon.html
http://www.isoaker.com/Tech/Internals/i ... worca.html
Unfortunately no one seems to have pictures of the internals of the CPS Orca.

I have contemplated converting my Gorgon to CPS, but I am not sure if I should go through with it or not. Basically, I want higher power. I have also contemplated creating a laminator for the Gorgon and then adding a tapered nozzle to the end of that. Unfortunately, I would lose the ability to rapidly change nozzles. Furthermore, aren't the Gorgon's stock nozzles tapered? Can anyone confirm whether or not this is true? DX replaced the Orca's PCs with those of the Blazer. He says it shoots further - I'd like to find out how much further.

Which would you rather own? Would you keep them stock or mod them? If you performed a mod what would it be?

I really don't know, but I'd lean towards the HP Orca. It seems to get good ranges, and slight mods could get it better. PC Swaps would make it crazy; Imagine a 1500 PC there instead of the diaphram. I want the Orca, but I can't find one.

Then again, my experience with WW is bad, as I made a bad choice of getting a UVanquisher over a Vanquisher. UVanquishers SUCKK.
The Gorgon could be better, on ISc, it gets 30+ft level range AP!!!! More than a 2000. However, HP seems to be worse. IDK.....Orca?

There are a lot of factors in range, not just the strength of a rubber bladder, or the size of an air pressure pc. Other important factors include the size of a gun's tubes/pipes, and the nozzle itself. A large firing valve also helps. The firing valves of the Orca and Gorgon are much smaller than that of the 1500 or 1700. Thus, less water can pass through. However, I wonder if you add a large laminator, and follow that with a tapered nozzle, if you wouldn't get ranges close to that of the 1500 or 1700. My Gorgon definitely shoots 39-40 feet stock.

I took lots of internal pics of the Orca when I did the Blorca mod. However, there is no means to post them with the power out. With the Blazer pc, it shoots farther then the Orca pc and I am not sure why. I dont remember the range, I think it was 42? 43? It was more like an air pressure gun because hydro power is not exactly CPS.

I actually had an Orca once; but I didn't like it much (bottom-mounted reservoir cap). It made these horrible noises, and it didn't really seem to be all that powerful. In hindsight, I should have kept it, but at the time I knew nothing of Isoaker.com or CPS systems.
If you like the Colossus, or some other good AP blasters, you may like the AP Gorgon. However, despite the reduced firing ranges, I would still prefer to have the CPS (HP) Gorgon, for it's heavier output. I suppose the Orca would be pretty similar, as well.
And if you are going to swap internals, then it doesn't even matter which one you get!
