Pick Three - April, 2005 - ^
If you were to buy only three different water blasters this year, which would they be? Rank them in order of preference. Include a runner-up if you felt one more would have been nice.
Note: Please only choose water blasters currently available in most stores and not through ebay, other auctions, rarer old-stock items, and/or individual trades, etc.

My current choices:
1) Super Soaker Flash Flood
2) Super Soaker Aquapack Devastator
3) Water Warriors Hydra Pak
Runner-Up - Triple Shot
(Thankfully I'm not limited to three this year or else I'd go nutz )

Super Soaker - CPS Flash Flood
Water Warriors - Pirahna
Water Warriors - Krypton (whatever the biggest precharge is)
I'm ranking these as though I didn't have the top two. Those are practical guns. The Krypton (or whatever the biggest precharge is) I'd get for a novelty.

I have not tried any water warriors guns yet (although I just found where I could buy one at yesterday) so my choices are limited to what I have used.

1.) Aqua Pak- I am interested in seeing how this gun handles on the battlefield, how many we could use, etc. This gun with about a 200oz. Backpack should prove well, I would love to test this one out, I will keep an eye out for it.
2.) CPS Flash Flood- I am interested also in seeing how this blaster handles and behaves. I like the styles, and I am amazed how they fit such a small CPS PC in there.
3.) Aquapak Devastator- Interested in looking at this one as well. Unique backpack and very cool looking gun. I want to play with it a bit, but it probably will not get much field use due to the latency while pumping, that sort of bothers me.
Runner Up? BBT Krypton. I heard it has a few pumping problems with the new precharge system but other than that it sounds like a solid gun, I will try to pick this up.

1) WW Hydra Pak
2) Flash Flood
3) Well, the AquaPak Devastator was what I initially thought, but I'm still put off by its high price tag, so either that or the Triple Shot.
Runner-up: Triple Shot/AquaPak Devastator (see above)

As an aside, I plan on doing a loose tally at the end of April based on what people pick and put in a summary post to close this thread. My overall plan is to do another one in August to see if people's opinions have changed alot after more have used different soakers.

Are you counting the order listed in your tally? Like, 3 points for 1'st listed, 2 for 2'nd, and 1 for 3'rd? (Or some system like that) If so, many people might be changing the order they wrote their picks in...

Microsoft: Yeah, but we got Rare.

Order is important. Order will be figured into the tally (i.e. 10 people chose Blaster A as their first pick, etc.)

In tallying favorites, I've found it best to assign points to each choice. 3 points to #1, 2 points to #2, 1 point to #3, or something like that. Then when it's over, add up the points. Some friends and I did that for an online songwriting competition. It's a lot easier than trying to decide whether or not a really popular #2 wins over varied #1s.

I've done the point thing before. That is how the Aquatica Site awards were decided once upon a time. I see merits in both systems, though. Even in terms of a varied 1st choice versus a constant 2nd pick, it still says something for a soaker to continually be chosen 2nd and not 1st.Adrian wrote:In tallying favorites, I've found it best to assign points to each choice. 3 points to #1, 2 points to #2, 1 point to #3, or something like that. I can do both tallies at any rate and post up the results. Those really keen can also do the tallying themselves since I'll just be counting up scores from people's public posts.
