Figured I'd post this here...I found the whole lineup at Target today. They had the MXD2000, the Vaporizor, Hydroblade, Helix, Flash Flood, Arctic Shock, Triple Shot, and Devastator.
I've got a $15 Target gift card, and it's between the Flash Flood(which I'll have to put $6 towards), the Triple Shot ($5 left on the gift card), or the Devastator (I'll have to put at least $16 towards). What should I get? I'm leaning towards the Flash Flood...

Based on the reports so far, I'd lean towards the Flash Flood as the first soaker of choice for 2005. Of course, I can only base this recommendation on reports. No hands on experience yet... sigh.

Part of me wanted to get one that hadn't been reviewed before so I could contribute to the pool of knowledge around here. But...there's no way I'm touchin' the AS, I've got tons of pistols already, and I'm not a huge fan of backpack guns...so yeah, it looks like I'll pick up the Flash Flood. So much for new info... :blues:

hehe! Thanks for thinking 'bout the knowledge pool!
You COULD always get a couple of soakers! 
At any rate, more perspectives on the same soaker are still quite valuable to see how 'universal' a model's performance feels in different people's hands.

I picked myself up a Flash Flood this afternoon. YOWZA!!! Even the little beam has kick, and the big nozzle is seriously comparable to a close range 2000mk2 shot, though not as contained. There has a never been a gun this size that has this power.

It does have a few faults. It's ugly, for one. Dark purple verging on black and bright green does not a color scheme make. Er, it makes one, just not a very good one.
The pump is short enough to be a hinderance in battle. It takes me around 25 pumps to get a full chamber and that's way too many for a gun this size, esp. considering how fast the chamber dumps it's load.
The small (too small IMO) main nozzle is set too low on the gun. It's nearly impossible to aim with any kind of accuracy. They should've put the big nozzle below the small one.
This may not be a fault, but with my model, the riotblast seperates into two blasts (think an over-under shotgun) at about 10 feet. This may have something to do with the screen, and I may have to try removing the screen.
Even with those faults, it's hard to not like a gun this powerful. This is the IMI BFR in 45/70 Government of the soaker world.

^ interesting points on some of the problems. 'Perfect' water blasters are rare. On the bright side, it's definitely a good step up from the last couple of years so if development now steers more in this direction, we can hope for better things to come. Of course, seeing is believing so we'll just have to assess things as they come and push forth our feedback when we get a chance to test things out.

Having experimented and held it for nearly a day now, I'm a little more comfortable with the size, though I still think the chamber's either too big for the tank, or the tank's too small for the chamber. I can get around 2.5/3 complete chambers if I don't precharge it. And I figured a way around the aiming problem. Strong arm straight out, holding the gun, weak arm supporting in thumbs-forward grip. That way the gun is actually right of your line of sight, and you can see the bottom (primary) nozzle. Might be a little harder to line up correctly, but once you're used to it, it's way better than having it straight out in front of you and just guessing as to where it'll hit. I'm still awed by the power of the big nozzle, this gun invents a whole new soaker category - The Hand-Cannon.

Correction:I labelled the BFR as made by IMI, it's actually made by Magnum Research.

Well, I guess I'm going to buy the FF. It's been getting high praises so it must be pretty good, and after all it is the first new CPS soaker in a while. It's kind of historical.

I should point out that (at least in my city) Walmart is carrying the Helix (the day before finding it, an employee told me they wouldn't get soakers in til March), and Shopko has Vaporizors, Helixes, Triple Shots, and Flash Floods. Wouldn't recommend Shopko though, their prices are $5 more than Target's.

Just picked up the Aqua-masters Xenon today...I wasn't expecting much after using it's bigger brother the Krypton (which suffers from mega-difficult pumping, tiny pressure chamber and doesn't quite 'feel' right) but I have to say that I'm impressed. Pumping is much easier, the pressure chamber although still small is about the right size for this gun, and it is very light and easy to hold.
Shot time is around 2-3 seconds, but it doesn't really matter because pressurizing it takes a very short time. I managed to get a couple of stats but I think there is a leak in the PC so I'll get it exchanged tomorrow and write a full review.
Capacity: 1.35 litres
PC Capacity: 150ml (It takes 5 pumps to reach this however)
Nozzle: ~2x
Range: ~12m
Overall I'm very pleased with this gun... I hope that they can make the rest of the pre-charger line more like this!

If you'd be interested and willing to make a slightly more expanded review, that'd be great, too. Different perspectives on blasters are great things to have, IMO.

Unfortunately my Xenon got a leak in the pressure chamber a couple of hours after I began using it, so that is why my review was quite short. I'm getting it exchanged for a new one today and I will write a full review, so feel free to use it on your site.

What is that? I'll assume it's a gun, but what type?

Its a hugely massive revolver that shoots a round usually used in lever action rifles. The cylinder's like, 4 inches long. They're beautiful weapons. And extremely powerful, which is why I made the comparison.

PS "BFR" stands for "Biggest Finest Revolver," most people think the BF stands for somethig else. :;):

Checked out the local Wal-Mart, but they only had Arctic Shocks and hideous Helix recolors. I'll try to go to the nearest Target as well, but it's pretty far away.

With all this good feedback even I may go out and buy a Flash Flood. I could really use a powerful pistol, as I have mostly larger guns.
@ Adrian: What kind of range does the Flash Flood get? That will hugely influence my decision of whther of not to get one.

I haven't had a chance to test the range in the optimum environment, but I'd have to guess it falls below the advertised 35 feet. Maybe 25-30, but not 35, I don't think. Interestingly, the massive Flash Flood nozzle gets around equal range to the smaller nozzle.
