Remakes/chains/renames aside, the CPS 1500 and the Monster '01 are arguably the two most alike guns ever made (I consider the CPS 1000/1200/2100 a chain). Both have their strengths, both have their weaknesses. Let's review some vital stats from the host site itself (iSc)...

We see that the CPS 1500 has a slight edge in Pumps, PC Capacity, Capacity, and Power. However, the Monster is slightly lighter, better balanced, and can also conserve water better. Not to mention that the Monster has a pressure gauge.

It's all a matter of personal preference, I honestly don't think that one is better than the other. I would like to hear all of your thoughts about this, however. Hopefully our discussion can help shed some light on most people's prefs and maybe uncover some previously unknown... ... ... stuff... about the two guns. :cps1500: (insert Monster smiley here)

That's pretty wierd. I never thought the 4100 was even near the Monster, the big M's just a better gun.

Yeah, the smallest Monster is what he means. The 4100 is the same gun minus the QFD port.

I always thought that the 1500 was closer to the MX (guess I never checked the stats) but now I know I was way off. the 1500 is like the MXL, way too glorified for what it is.

The MX is closer to the 2500 not because of power, shape, or size but as a replacement for the heavy cannon soaker in Hasbro/Larami's lineup. As for the 1500/1700vs. Monster/4100, I'll take the Monster because it has a QFD/SC capability that I was quite fond of when my Monster still worked. It meant that I never had to pump if I was near a QFD.

Err... I'm not following. The CPS 1500 offers a strong mid-size cannon alternative to the small 1000 or the large 2500. How do you mean that it's too "glorified?"

I think that what he's syaing is that far too many of us are saying that the 1500 is the "greatest soaker" when there might be plenty of other opportunities around. Well, I respect that opinion but I also agree with soakologist in that the 1500 is of the best soakers ever created.

No doubt that the CPS 1500 isn't the best soaker in many situations. However, if I had to go into a battle without knowing what I was doing, I'd take my 1500.

I'd also take the CPS 1500, but I didn't know it number up to the monster, how strange. Also, I think the monster would be heavy to carry around so thats a pretty bad weakness for it. But the 1500 can shoot as far as the monster, so it would be as good as the monster.

First of all, we are comparing the 1500 to the smallest Monster (2001 version). Second, why are you switching from the MX to the MXL in the middle of your post? Finally, accroding to the stats, the 1500 shoots substantially farther than the Monster series, so for range its better than the Monster series.

Fine, I'll edit it... Oh, oops, for the 1500's range, I looked at the 5x nozzle, yep, the 1500 has better range.

Not necessarily. It may shoot further, but it can't conserve as much water as the Monster, and it also can't QF.

Thats QF+D. I don't think range is as valuable as people consider it to be.

Range is actually very valuable... I was just in a skirmish yesterday and range is definitely a big key factor.

And I said that it cannot "QF," which means that it can't quick fill. I didn't mean to say QFD.

The value of range varies depending on the battle conditions. I think I have a long post on this on SSC somewhere. Factors like range, power, output, etc
depend on variables on the battlefield. The type of war, terrain, number of people, size of the battlefield, arsenals, etc all affect whether certain gun traits are bad or good. To go along with the topic, Range could be decisive in one situation and not very useful in another.

Not necessarily. It may shoot further, but it can't conserve as much water as the Monster, and it also can't QF.

I would go with the 1500-better range, lighter, more versatile [sp?] You have to do the water conserving by not wasting shots and fighting "trigger happy" feelings. Both guns fill up fast enough, I think QFD and quick fill are overrated.
Then again I fight on a battlefield with no houses, hoses, decks, treehouses, garages, hedges, or any of that. QFD is only useful if your battlefield is an urban one.

The Monster started off the new Hybrid brand of soakers we know as the "Monster Series". I fail to see how these blasters are similiar in proportions. The CPS 1500 uses a Bladder (balloon) while the Monster uses a Cylindrical Bladder, and the CPS 1500 pushes the slightest envelope on range, yet the Monster will come on top with its SC capabilities and more nozzle settings to conserve water/ Yes the CPS 1500 is a great soaker, but there are ones out there that will beat it to the punch, almost excatly like it power-wise (*points to Monster and CPS 4100.)

-Iceman

edit- Quickfill isn't overrated. its designed to fill up the blaster again fast and easily, and it will give you a "Full Burst" shot, where you can fire off a Burst without pumping. Excellent Technology.

I agree. I think that the QFD is underrated, in fact. People give the 4100 too much credit.

Quickfill tech might be useful when fighting in a neighborhood or a backyard, but where I fight its worthless. There are only 3 sources by which to refill. Carry water in containers, fill at one of the streams, or use the ancient-yet-still-works-somehow water fountain. There are no hoses or sinks anywhere in the park. I think the technology is overrated because so many people battle in surburban neighborhoods.
