So we're supposed to make images as well?

There's no "supposed to". It's more of, "if you are interested, those type of images would be added there."

Can we make sure that these pictures aren't of half naked girls? There's a lot of young kids on this site.

Meh, it's the internet. 4 year olds already know how to find porn, you can't shelter kids from anything in the information age. These girls at least have clothes.

marauder has a point; I've wiped the links from here and will opt to not post any updated regarding those pages here since I can make no guarantee about potential content, though I will work on evening things out a little more. Most of what is already up has been so for years...

We (the administration + iSoaker) need to discuss how to handle this. Short of some of ZOCCOZ's images from the past (which are pretty much softcore), I've seen nothing that could be of questionable suitability for ages 16+, and below that, we don't get very many members. The overwhelming majority of activity on the board easily comes from 18+ members, but if we're going to dumb things down and not be able to have uncensored discussions, then we should designate various forums for it. It's not like we have any violent content, content promoting extremism, etc. You can show someone's arm blown off on TV, but show a portion of female nipple and people go absolutely insane. There's a balance between pandering to puritanical prudes and driving away actual potential community members, and this link removal is borderlining on said pandering IMO.

That, and what DX said about anyone finding porn. I would say that more often than not, the sheer freedom of the modern web can be a good thing, opening up young people to information that they would otherwise be sheltered from. There are many people who grow up in an environment where they can't turn to those around them for support, life advice, etc. and are only spoonfed and told what to learn or believe. We don't see or hear about it, but I think that newfound freedom of information and discussion (unconstrained by geographical and other limitations) is responsible for changing attitudes towards a wide variety of issues. But instead, all we here about are 9 year olds with iPhones spending their lives on Candy Crush Saga, Flappy Bird, and posting things to the web that they shouldn't be.

End of rant. I'll take the rest of this to Open Discussion if need be.

It's worth adding that kids see young adults in swimsuits all the time, anywhere. Beach, pool, magazines, etc. I don't see how treating that as if it were erotica does anything to help us, and it's only a small minority of the content that the community creates.

Of course, one or two of these are slightly suggestive with the captions to accompany them, but it's nothing worse than what Hasbro did with the Oozinator. The ones that are also contain a humorous demeanor that's unique to our community, and it'd be a shame to ruin that with a little hysteria. Linking to the parody Oozinator board meeting video is another thing, but none of the innuendo on the celebrity page would be understood by those who it may not be 100% age appropriate for anyway.

Filtering that out from a site that specifically tries to be purely family friendly is one thing (at least with removing the images showing celebrity cleavage), trying to filter it out from the forums is another. As the administration shifts and as we move forward, we need to be reasonable and practical with regards to this. The fact remains that this is a forum consisting mostly of 16+ users, with virtually no activity from 13-14 year olds. (Most of who have also already seen more suggestive content than any of the images on the celebrity page.)

In the end, I think the best compromise is to hide the content in question behind a note to the effect of "Note: Suggestive Content", but it's up to iSoaker on how to manage his site. The forums are another story though, and that's for the administration to discuss.

85% of post on here are made by us members that are 18 and older, chief, ambush, fishfan, neptune, and all the one and two post members. make up the other 15%. content curently on their doesn't offend me, and at the time they were posted our community member average age was much younger.
If you ever bother reading these, I worry for your mental sanity. :oo:

For what it's worth, had I considered anything inappropriate for my site, I wouldn't have created it, let alone post it. However, these forums are something else and it is difficult to determine what is or is not potentially offensive to another member. My general rule on forum content is if I think it's ok, I'll post it, but if another member who I have respect for suggests otherwise and posts about it, I will reconsider things and adjust accordingly.

For sake of argument, why one can find racier stuff on the internet or even on the beach, whether it is suitable for here is up for discussion. Moreover, whether we make it easier to find potentially questionable things through the forums is also another point to ponder. One can argue either way; what needs to be determined is who are these forums intended to be for?

Did you remove the link because of the picture that's on there now, or because of possible later content? I didn't think the picture you had there was even remotely suggestive.

Anyway, these forums are basically intended for anyone over 13, right? I honestly don't see the problem with anything short of actual nudity. As long as it's appropriate for the public, it should be fine for here. Though with that said, I really don't understand why people make such a fuss about shielding young 'uns from nudity and sex. I mean, it's all part of life, ain't it? Have they done studies or something that prove that it's a bad idea to introduce the concept of sex to kids? Society is really weird sometimes, but I digress. For these boards, I think we should stick with PG-13 content.

I opted to remove the link to avoid needing to worry about whether any content on those pages may be considered a little more racy or suggestive. I will continue to use my own judgment on what I consider appropriate for iSoaker.com, but look towards the group here on what they feel is or isn't ok for the forums.

This thread is digressing far from its original fun intent. It may be worth removing at this point as it really no longer serves its intended purpose.

With the link removed, that's really all that's left to discuss. If you don't want to do so in this thread, we can lock it.
