The Life of Captain Xerxes
From now on, this will be the thread to anything related to Captain Xerxes. For those of you who do not know, CX(Captain Xerxes) is what i call the modification of replacing the PCs of a Classic or XP with CPS bladders or LRT.
Anyway, on to the beginning!!!
Chapter 1: The Base
Finally, the XP 250 has arrived!! I was so happy Firstly, the box was fantastic, even having a picture of the Rare XP 300.
The Gun:
The XP 250 seems to be great overall so far. It has about ~40 feet max range and 20 to~35 feet effective range. Shot time is 8-12 seconds of great pressure, then 10 of dribbly droppoff. I was very surprised at the performance versus size. It worked similar to a SS/XP 300, just slightly weaker, however is as light as my CPS 3200(just gun), even when the XP'S filled and precharged!!!
This will be a great base for Captain X.... Muahahaha!!!

It's.... so... beautiful... <OO>
Please post a picture of the box where it shows the illusive "XP 300". I just don't understand how/why the SS 300 would be on the box/the XP 300 was never released.

I was thinking the exact same thing Soakinader, "that is a beautiful gun." I look forward to seeing this at Downpour next year, or hopefully Connecticut this year!

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
No one has ever seen an "XP 300" in physical form, the only place it has ever been seen is on the boxes of certain XP's. Please post a pic!

soon enough, just not now. My box is in another house for similar reasons. It will be back monday
Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
The XP 300 does exist, and I'm pretty sure that one of our collectors had one in the mid 2000's. Soakologist? Dark Annihilator? Chris Reid?

True, that. It's not my favorite design, but I actually like it better than most of the Nerf soakers. While cool-looking, I don't think that N-Strike design works well for water guns. Not sure why everyone likes them so much (the Electrostorm and Rattler are probably the only ones I really like.).marauder wrote:I was thinking the exact same thing Soakinader, "that is a beautiful gun."
I know XP270 had an XP 300, but I think his cousin sold it or something. Aside from him, I don't know of anybody else who has or had one. They could have been a sort of limited edition of the SS 300.

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
UPDATE:
just opened up nozzle selector.
The ball valve opening is about 8x. When firing, it had barely any lamination, but lasted for a good 5 seconds until droppoff. I think i should drill to exactly that diameter for more lamination, range, and power than the fan blast.

'bout 32 feet. not bad for flamethrower pitter patter blocking the actual stream.

Sounds like a good alternative to the fan blast. Will be interesting to see how it reacts after the CPS conversion.

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
one main problem is that the selector is very small. About the size of the 3200 20x setting. I might make my own

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
It's not that small.... and I don't care what you do to this gun, you will not get more than 10-12X out of it. You might as well use the nice little selector.
Actually, I would really like to experiment with making the nozzle selector the laminator... have each nozzle setting with a different number of holes. All I need is a solid block of plastic and my drill press. Or, maybe if I filled the back of the nozzle with epoxy, then drilled holes... hmmm..

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
Well, i meant that the selector is the size of the 3200's 20x, outside ring and all, i have both.
I want a bigger selector for more options and laminaton; the regular 3x is a bit flamethrower-ish. Plus with the convertion, i have to have at least 5x to have use for the power. My ultimate selector options for this:
1x,3x,shower,5x,8x, ?typhoon thing?
Anyway, i tried opening it up, it's a pain! I'm at the final screw, it's stripped. time for liquid grunge! :/

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
I love that y'all are doin' all these mods so I can use the successful ones on my 275 in 2 months Soakinader I didn't know you were modding your 250 as well. I'd be very interested in seeing how a nozzle laminator works on this gun. I don't plan on adding laminators to my 275 since I wouldn't be able to keep the original nozzle selectors, but then again I may need them with the CPS power mods I plan on doing.

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
So far the first mods planned will probably be the internal reinforcing and nozzle drilling. I might be making laminators, not sure.
QUESTION: If this mod goes well, should i make a CX series? CX 250 ( This one), CX 300 ( SS300), CX 150 (XP 150, Probably the simplist one, just pc swap n' reinforcing.), CXD (double) 275(XXP 275), CX Triple Charge ( SC Triple charge, just CPS'd), and the homemade CX Better Pak( reincarnation of power pak). Whaddya think?

Re: The Life of Captain Xerxes
If this goes well I see no reason not to convert other guns, except that you will want a few air pressure blasters for air pressure only rounds in the community wars. Then again, maybe we end up phasing out those rounds. We only had 1 air pressure only round at Hydropocalypse.
