I just found this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1980s-1 ... 3cd415c92b
It's a 60 in MDS colors. Is this a rerelease, or released before the purple and green one? Has anyone heard of this? According to iSoaker the MDS actually was realeased before the 60, so this is a bit confusing.

Re: SS60 different colors
Bwahahaha extremely good condition... now that's funny... ROFL.
.. Anyways, this is what happens when they have extra plastic but no mold orders to fill. Maybe the SS60 started this way, but then changed colour to make it stand out. It definitely looks like a different SS60. Pretty cool. Thing is, the parts from the SS 60 and MDS are interchangeable, so for all we know someone swapped some parts.

I laughed at the extremely good condition. They could have swapped the nozzle and sticker, or it could be a rerelease. Was the MDS released before the 60? Or is iSoaker's an newer release?
Re: SS60 different colors
I went and double-checked through scans I have of early Larami catalogs. The MDS appears in 1993 while the SS 60 has a "New" tag in their 1994 catalog.darthmeow wrote:Was the MDS released before the 60? Or is iSoaker's an newer release?

That is interesting. So the 60 is actually newer than the MDS. Is the 60 in the catalog the normal purple/orange/green one?
Edit: has anyone seen this? It is a SS50, but with an odd color scheme that does not look painted...

Re: SS60 different colors
There's 3 known SS 60 color schemes. The most widely produced being the lime and purple version. The second being the version you see here, which I've seen multiple times on ebay, and the third being a silver/white/dark grey power rangers model which I've seen 2 or 3 times. Supposedly the SS 60 was one of the most widely produced Super Soakers of the '90s. Not sure if that's true. I will say this though, I absolutely love how this gun handles. Definitely top 5 all time. However, the power is just so weak that I had no issue selling it when I slimmed my arsenal down. The XPs were truly a big step up in power.
As for the SS 50 you linked to, I've seen several of those on ebay as well. There's actually quite a few weird SS50 releases.
