Looking for a CPS 1-3-5

Post by Nitro123PG » Fri Apr 06, 2012 7:49 am

Hey there. I known it's usually pretty pointless to ask for CPSs on here, but I figure SOMEBODY has a CPS 1-3-5 they aren't really attached to, because it, well, it's the 1-3-5. My friend, W, then one from Texas, currently has my CPS 1000. I told him he can keep it if he can fix it, because I know he won't be able to. I couldn't, and he's more of a Nerf person anyway. If I decide to try to permantly fix it, I will be buying new piping for it. Or...

I am going to get a CPS 1-3-5. I figure since the 1000 gets 40 feet with a 5X nozzle, and the 1-3-5 gets 30 feet on a 1X nozzle, so the 1000 bladder is obviously more powerful. So swap the PCs, seal the 4 side nozzles, and enlargin the main nozzle, and you just might have a wrothy replacement for the 1700 afterall.

But all I need is a CPS 1-3-5 for it, and since it is a widely hated soaker, I would figure one of you guys would have no problem parting with yours. Just tell me how much $ you want for the 1-3-5, and I'm also open to trades. I'm only trading with trusted members. I don't have a whole lot to trade, but look at my profile to see my guns anyway.

There are some on eBay.. one high.. one crazy high. Not sure how much you're willing to spend, but all depends on your level of desire versus your level of liquid cash.

The cheapest CPS 1-3-5 on eBay is about $20. I don't really want to spend a whole lot on it though, because if the mod doesn't work, I'm going to end up with a crappy water blaster. And I could also buy a decent WW blaster for $20, with no risk of an unsuccesful mod.

A CPS 1-3-5 is worth about $5...so take no shame in lowballing those sellers. It's so worthless that I'm considering dropping it from the Marketwatch project. I swapped a 21K pc into a 1-3-5 for a contract mod several years ago and it was pretty decent. Watch out for the 1-3-5's low HPL - if you want more than 45ft out of a 10K pc or 40ft out of a 1000 pc unmodded, you will need to disable the PRV. The 1000 bladder is small and the 1-3-5 PC is huge, but the potential extra expansion of the new bladder is wasted by the weak PRV. The thing also has wicked balance issues and jiggles like crazy when full. All the weight converges upon a small area.

With a lot of work, you will be able to craft a strong primary, but meanwhile, a 10K will get the same level of performance with only a light K-mod and a stock 1500/1700 need not even be modded for the same level of performance. If range and output are made equivalent, both the 1000 and 1500/1700 remain better platforms ergonomically and in durability. In field life, the higher capacity of the 1-3-5 would nudge out the 1000, but it's a high price paid in effort. Like with modding a Hydro Cannon to challenge a CPS 2000, yes you can do it, but all the while, always keep in mind the attributes that made the rival platform a rival. It's not just power.

If it's consistently available and worth $5 and without accounting for shipping fees, I'd have like 4 of them lol. They look awesome to mod and only get a bad rep because people don't mod or don't know how to mod them.
