Pressure Resistant Glue
Pressure Resistant Glue
I have been using an adhesive glue on my mods but it breaks because it can handle the pressure. Any ideas what else I can use.

Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
What are you using it for? Would something like rubber cement work?

I wrote a guide to some good and bad options: http://www.sscentral.org/repairs/glue.html
Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
I had to saw off my pump shaft because part of my flash floods pump was stuck in it. I am trying to glue them back together with little results.
Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
So it's not just a leak...the thing is actually snapping apart?
Do what we do for things like trigger repair and reinforcement – glue a strip of metal on both sides of the crack.

We'll need more details then. What precisely did you cut? I've been inconsistent about my terminology and pump shaft could refer to either the part inside of the pump tube or the pump tube itself. Where did you cut? What specifically have you tried without success?
Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
I cut the shaft but not the internals completly off to get the part of the pump out, these guns are so hard to fix if you can't get the pump out. There where no parts broken. I tried epoxying on a piece of pipe around it but it didn't work. I used 5 minute epoxy, not plumbers goop this time and it still leaked. One of my flash floods is PRVDed and both have collasus mods but because of the stupid pump they do not work.
Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
A picture might help, if you can get one.
Have you considered using the pump from a totaled water gun? What about building your own?

Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
No the pump is fine. Its the pump shaft. I cut it so I could get the broken part of the pump out. This worked but now my every attempt to seal it back up isn't working. I'll take a picture when I find my camera.
Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
Honestly, I don't know any glues that could fix that.
What you could do is drill a hole in each if the two pieces and connect them with some kind of strong wire. It'll still be weak on the push stroke, but it should be fine on the pull stroke (the one glue won't be able to handle).

Re: Pressure Resistant Glue
The glue holds them together. Its just its not air tight. I have a pipe around the two peices. I think i busted on of the check valves on one of my FF's but I will only be able to tell when the pumps fixed cause it is really hard to push the pump.
