Broken XP 110

Post by steelboot. » Sat Nov 01, 2008 5:11 pm

I found an XP 110 with a sliced reservoir down the middle(the plastic is seperated, making it leak) , so you can literally pull open the reservoir. I've always wanted one, but I need some advice on how to best fix it.

Is putty eproxy a good idea to fix the leak? If no, what is?

Thanks!

Sliced reservoir shouldn't be too much of a problem on an XP110 so long as the rest of the tubing and PCs are alright. Since the reservoir is not pressurized, you just need either to find a way to hold the reservoir halves together in a water-tight manner (epoxy, careful taping, etc.) or replace the reservoir altogether with something else (i.e. some PVC pipe fittings and appropriate intake adapters).

Thanks, I think I'll use exprock's eye putty.

As others have said, epoxy or tape. Go with epoxy. Tape will eventually come off, and no matter how careful you are, it will leak. Try and get epoxy on the inside of the res., so you get a seal from that side as well. Then slather it on the outside. Epoxy is like butter, you can never use too much.

You can definitely use too much epoxy. Use enough to make a strong bond. More is wasteful and slows drying. :goofy:

Hey, guys, thanks for the help! I'll be repairing it this weekend with putty eproxy.

Sorry for the late reply.

I completed the repair several weeks ago, but five minutes after the repair was completed, I had to give the 110 away. When I found this beauty, it was at the side of the road, and I assumed that is was for garbage collection and took it. Actually, it had merely been there on account of a careless child forgetting to put away his toy (that's how it broke). When the boy saw me with it, he was horrified and asked me to return it. I did, and now I can be devilish for the rest of the year :).
