Sick logo. What are the allowed weapons? Need to know if I should camo up the PPB and hook a backpack to it or if I should just bring my 2000.

I belong on the maybe list. I'm not exactly sure yet what I'll be doing for the holiday. I'm literally almost broke right now.

Also, hockey game?

We have money set aside for transportation purposes, so just let me know how much you need.

I plan on mainly doing anything goes and medium primaries. It's just too difficult to tell hits with light primaries. This will also reduce the amount of stuff that we need to bring in. If your anything goes soaker is also your medium one, then you only need to bring one thing (although I would bring at least one backup).

Unfortunately, the weather outlook is trending toward another cold Frozen Fury. It should make it into the 40s during the day, but it could be around 29 at start time, with snow on Sunday. Snow during a battle would be epic, but this is many many days out, so the forecast could change. Bring winter clothes, especially a jacket and gloves.

I'll bring my 2000, and I should probably bring my PPB. I'm guessing that would be considered medium. It only has a 2x nozzle and 39-40 ft range, but the shot time, field life, handling, and rate of fire are all superb. I could alternately bring my Gorgon. It has been working fine for the past month, but you never know. If I wanted more of a challenge I could bring my nozzle modded 600 (4x), or if I really want a challenge I could bring my 310, but that will require fixing the nozzle mod. I just bought some new nylon spacers from Home Depot, so hopefully I can get that done this week.

I guess my medium guns are really more on the light end, except for probably the Gorgon. It would be good to do some kind of duel between my modded Gorgon and my stock PPB. Perhaps I could get up with Rob and whoever else is there early and try that on Friday if y'all are free. Would be fun to do another set of duels. Would anyone be interested in that as an exhibition/warm up on a different day?

In regards to teams are we switching every round randomly, doing some kind of semi permanent teams, or are we having set teams based on themes for certain games like vets vs rookies or NE/NY vs the world or whatever?

Hey guys! Does anyone who's coming to the event have a spare trigger valve for a 3200? Alternatively, does anyone know how to seal a sawed opened 3200 trigger valve?

By trigger valve do you mean the firing valve? The plunger type valve at the front of the gun that opens when you pull the trigger?Rob's friend Jake (Neptune) is the best at this repair and I think he lives in your area. GJIV is also very good, but he lives in Austria. I may be able to help you get it open. I've repaired firing valves on a CPS 2000 and 2500. Unfortunately I'm really pressed for time on this trip so we'd have to do it at Rob's house around the same day as the war. I recommend using boiling water, an xacto knife, and a thin but wide flathead screwdriver or similar to pry it open after you remove the screws. Be careful! The boiling water is good to loosen up the glue.

Re: Frozen Fury 2015 Planning Thread

Post by SEAL » Fri Nov 20, 2015 7:55 am

(I assume this is the right thread for this.) Edit: Or not. Having two threads is confoosing!

Can we see pictures of the place? By the sound of things it's less than spectacular. I've been to Saugatuck before, and I liked the power line section, but aside from that I don't remember it being amazing for a water war (at least when the leaves are down). Also, how are we going to be playing? Can we do some kind of thing where we make the whole fighting day a continuous battle, perhaps while switching objectives after certain points? That would lead to zero downtime, which would make for more fighting time than any other war. I'm not interested in just standing around shooting at each other for a couple of short periods a day, especially if there isn't much concealment, which it sounds like there isn't. I think it'd be awesome to try and get something going at the power plant, but I suppose that isn't really practical.

I live more than double the distance from CT that I used to, and my whip isn't the most fuel-efficient thing in the world (smiles per gallon are more important) so if I do come I want it to be worthwhile.

I'd like to see some pictures before I endorse one playing style or another, but I agree with SEAL in regards to maximizing playing time. Hopefully there's enough to hide behind and this battlefield isn't super open. I also really like the idea of campaigns in a single war rather than individual rounds that have no bearing on the next round.

I put up a standard playlist, but am open to a continuous campaign if you can explain how it might work. The concept of it I have right now is that one team is initially the offense ("invading" the park), the other team starts as the defense. The first round is objective - if the defense wins or ties, the next round is OHS. If the offense wins, the next round is another objective with the same roles, and they gain one territory "unit". When a defense wins or ties their objective round, then wins OHS, the roles switch and the next round is objective with them on offense now (trying to win back territory units and drive the invaders out). If they tie in OHS, OHS is repeated until someone wins. You can keep losing consecutive objective rounds as long as you have territory left to use. If either side runs out of territory units, they lose the campaign. If there is a loser early on, the teams switch roles and we start a new campaign.

What do you think about that idea?

Very interesting idea. Sounds like Risk. I need some time to wrap my head around the concept. We really need SEAL and Chief to weigh in on this. Has anyone been able to contact Chief about if he's coming or if he's interested in this type of round?

I made a battlefield page on Hydrowar for this venue - https://hydrowar.wordpress.com/2015/11/ ... ural-area/
Check out the page as it will be much easier to scroll through the gallery I created (and photoshopped a few photos) than to click on each individual link. Also, please rate it and or comment as it boosts the site in Google's rankings which in turn leads more people here. I heard some people actually found Ben's homemade questionnaire through Hydrowar as I've gotten more hits this summer than ever before and a lot of it is because of linking and clicking back and forth from this forum to the site and vice versa.

Thanks Rob for posting the pics! I really like how thick this looks in some places.

We also need to think about possible teams if we do the continues campaign. Rob and I would definitely be on opposite teams.

If the Seals come, we can do rivalry for the campaign. Me, Ben, Sam, and Van James vs Seal, Keith, Scott, and Jon for team cores. Regardless, we will be on the same team one day and opposite teams on the next. I want to draw up pre-made teams before the war, so it's really important to let us know if any of the Seals are coming.

Dude, use http://imgur.com/ next time lol. Batch drag and drop, done.

I've been trying for years to get a multi-phase attack/defend campaign style game going, but everytime I proposed the idea, it was too complicated and had too many rules. I'm glad to see this idea finally making way, and I think somewhere like Soakemore would be a great place to run this sort of thing.

Here's a proposed setup:

Phase 1: Attackers capture the outpost.
Phase 2: Defenders fall back to flag. Attackers spawn at captured outpost, have to capture flag to outpost.
Phase 3: Defenders spawn at core (represented by container of water or by a paper target). Attackers spawn at old flag location and have to load up or destroy the core.

With OHS, the game will be drawn out a lot further, but we can try it. I was thinking of keeping it mostly to asymmetric objective games such as escort the VIP or the games listed above.

We could run it without OHS, but that might cause a lot of back-and-forth between the same territories if the teams are evenly matched. The problem with moving seamlessly into the next round is the limited geographic placement of water sources. I have now found 3 additional water sources, so we have a total of 4 plus the river, but they are still not in ideal locations.

I'd have to put some more thought into how a campaign-type thing would work. I just want to fight over the whole park without having downtime where people are standing around doing nothing. I mean, I'm all for hanging out and chatting, but that can be done when the battle is over.

I'm trying to figure out the best way for me to make it. I'll report back later; right now I don't have much time.

If you take out OHS you have to add OHK, and I really think there should be OHS.

*edit*
OHK may work better than OHS for this type of things because there is a definite end. Or you could do OHS to a certain number. First team to 10 wins or something like that.

*double edit*
We could just keep track of how many rounds each team has won, kind of like the rivalry wars in the past; but just limit down time by saying you have x number of minutes (5? 10?) to plan for the next battle which will be x game type at y location. After x number of minutes (5? 10?) we will start. That would increase the rate of fighting and it would still be simple because you're just keeping track of how many rounds each team won.

OHK doesn't work in a place like this, where you can run away ad infinitum. There's a reason why I never run OHK rounds anymore, unless the area is very constrained. The mornings will also be very cold, perhaps in the upper 20s, and I don't want to have people standing around waiting. Remember, you have to treat this as a winter war. Waiting is bad, standing is bad.
