For this war why don't we all just bring 1 anything goes primary and then leave a backup or medium primary in the vehicles? Rob would have to sign off on that, but I think it makes sense.

The battlefield I'm working on is a woods venue, but I am adding lots of mobstacles - but in a natural version. So piles of sandbags or haybails with shrubs planted on top of them. That way you have no idea who's lurking around the corner. A mix of urban industrial style fighting in a forest environment.

I have another idea for a continuous campaign. Instead of having territories and going back and forth, the next round is setup wherever the previous round ended. The rounds alternate between objective and OHS. Whoever won the OHS attacks, whoever lost defends. If the last OHS was a tie, we play 2 flag CTF or Outpost. There can be a short (5, 10 min?) time gap between rounds to rest and plan (but NOT refill). If your team is low on water and the round is objective...tough luck, should have refilled during the previous round. I think it will make for an interesting dynamic if you can only refill during an active round.

There could be multiple ways to score the overall campaign. Does the team who won the most objectives win? Does the team who won the most OHSes win? Does the team who won the most rounds overall win?

Hmm, taking out downtime for refilling sound interesting, especially with the teams remaining the same between rounds. I think refilling should be legal between rounds if there is down time, but the round starts after the 5/10 minute break whether some team members are still off refilling or not. As for only bringing in one gun, that's what I did at Frozen Fury 2013, I see no problem with this. I used to always carry around my primary, light blaster in a backpack, and my Crickets in my pockets, but I almost never used any of those backups and even then, a Python 2 or Crickets vs. CPS blasters wasn't very effective. At this point I tend to use my 1000 for anything goes rounds, so I don't even need a separate medium for attack/defend games anymore. Only time I'd consider using a backup now is during long OHS games and it would be just be a Stream Machine for use in assaulting hills.

As for people being tired after the walk at Pandemonium, I don't think the problem was so much caring extra blasters as it was bringing all the water we needed to fight.

Alright, so how about this - Refilling in between rounds is still legal, but the round starts promptly after the 10 min is up, regardless of whether your whole team is ready or not. I think we should go for 10, it would give me time to setup flag bases.

Also, for VIP, I have ideas to improve how it plays. First of all, we need to end the confusion about attacking team and defending team. The team escorting the VIP is now the ESCORTING TEAM. The team trying to shoot the VIP is the OPPOSING TEAM. If you are on the VIP's team, you are escorting them, if you are not on the VIP's team, you are opposing them. Checkpointing - we did this at Soakemore in the portables. As the VIP moves forward, they may capture checkpoints. Escorters can respawn at any checkpoint they have reached, and defenders can respawn at any checkpoint that the VIP has not yet reached. Escorters can no longer respawn at the VIP. This still doesn't stop opposers from all camping at the very end of the route, which is why for the Power Line Trail, the VIP will move downhill. The power line poles are the checkpoints, and the last one is at the very bottom of the hill. The opposing team can still camp there, but they'll lose if their first fight is at the bottom of a hill. The opposing team will want to fight for every inch of the route, with the way it gradually drops. This should increase the amount of action, without impacting the strategy.

The concept of territories can be used to decide what type of objective round is played. If we end an OHS anywhere along the power line, we go to Turfwar if tied or Escort the VIP if not. If we end OHS at Saugatuck Mountain, it's Outpost if tied and Atk/def Outpost if not. If we end an OHS near the Burn Trail, it's 2 flag CTF if tied and 1 flag CTF if not.

Turfwar is an objective round specific to the power line area and provides us with a game to play if we end up with the last OHS played being a tie. Each team splits in half, and each half has an advantaged side and a disadvantaged side.
Top of the hill --> 1/2 A ---> 1/2 B ---> 1/2 A ---> 1/2 B --> Bottom of the hill. It doesn't matter where the teams start as long as they are in that order and between the end points. Getting the top isn't necessarily better than the bottom, it depends who each team decides to put in which half, and what guns they use.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. You'll have to know exactly what we are doing next for this to work.

So, we will be playing the rivalry after all? SEAL said he was in. Don't know about his brothers yet. We could really use Nick. Oh, well.

I've got all my stuff packed up in the car and ready to go. Tiffany is packing the rest of the stuff and I'm at work until 3, then driving from here. Supposed to be only 9 hours from Durham...we will see...

So are we just doing anything goes blasters? I might not bring any light blasters if that is the case.

So right now my plan is to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow, stop off at my parents' for guns and supplies, then arrive at the park in time for the battle. I will probably be staying over Saturday night, and leaving Sunday after lunch or so. What are the sleeping arrangements? Would we just be staying in a guest bedroom or something?

Also, my back is still killing me so I might not even be able to fight much. But I could bring a camera and take pictures/movies of the action.

I can bring an extra sleeping pad/blankets if someone needs one, I plan to head out between 12 and 1 today and will be picking up chivesthechimp on the way. Oh and I seam to remember someone needing to reinforce the trigger on a 2500, I am bringing some model train track for that, Duxburian I am guessing you have a saw and glue?

On Sunday my family is having their big dinner thing so I'd probably leave early for that. I can still probably fight for a little while on Sunday though.

Also, Duxburian's campaign idea sounds pretty solid. If we do continuous fighting might I suggest making the start time later? If I have to get up at like 5 I probably won't have enough energy for the day. I also threw my back out in the gym while trying to be a hard-ass, so I don't know how effective I'm going to be.
The real question is... whether or not you are a chubby chaser??? You might wanna keep that popcorn away from bbw... we gonna hear you snackin from a mile away boy!!!!

We are getting a hotel in the city so we can also do something "useful with our time..." Heading out now...

So, the war starts at 10 AM. We are aiming to be there by 9:45. There is fairly limited parking in the parking area, so pull along the side if there isn't space (don't block the driveway). The staging area is about a 3-5 minute walk - go straight in and follow the white-blazed Knapp Way trail up a small hill and you will see us.

As for teams, I still haven't heard a definite status for Seal's brothers. This is the rivalry plan:

Team 1:
Duxburian
Marauder
Tony
Danny
CA99
Snoop Doggy Doge

Team 2:
SEAL
CHIEF
Firebird
Scottthewaterwarrior
ChivestheChimp
Nick Marvin
Cochise

If they show up, that team will be a bit stronger. If they don't show up, my team will be a bit stronger. Not having a yes or no answer kills the ability to balance teams and organize a war, so I am sticking with these teams and hoping it works out. The teams will only be rebalanced if enough people don't show up. Sunday's teams will be switched up.

The first round will be OHS. Boundaries are the entrance area and archery range to the Wall Trail, to the cliffs below the Oak Trail, to the private property line. Everything inside those things is fair game for all OHS rounds. The Falls Trail is out of bounds due to the popularity of the waterfall, I'd like to stay in areas of the park where nobody goes. Rounds will alternate OHS and objective, everything is Anything Goes, so you only need to bring one soaker in (although you might want to bring a backup and leave it at the staging area).

It should be fairly warm, around 53 degrees, but it may rain on and off, so plan on getting wet (this is why we are using the big guns, so we can see hits better). Sunday should be dry, around 50.

See you tomorrow at 10!

Today was epic. Thank you everyone who showed up.

Quick run down of events.

OHS

Duxburian CPS 2000
Marauder CPS 2000
Scott Vindicator
SEAL CPS 1200

win 18 to 2, while the score indicates a beatdown the winning team was mostly on the run. I broke away and started following the opposing team from behind, but this left my team with a 3 v 5 disadvantage. I ended up ambushing the opposing team from behind and would have killed every single player except for Van's intervention, but my teammates ended up cleaning up shop vs whoever I didn't kill. The Vindicator proved more than capable against pretty much any gun on the field today, which we (including scott) had kind of forgotten about.

Snoop CPS 1000

CTF

Duxburian CPS 2000
Marauder CPS 2000
HBWW CPS 2500
Chupacabra CPS 1000
Tony Blazer

won with flag capture (Rob and me tag team), though hits were tied at 3 and 3 and Scott even took our flag. Rob went OP in this round. Tony made a kill with the Blazer vs David with the 2000 which was super impressive. I carried the flag into the base just as Scott took off with ours, so we won by getting back first.

SEAL CPS 2700
Chives CPS 2000

Snoop CPS 1000

OHS

Duxburian CPS 2000

Coo
Overall this War was pretty satisfying. Although most of some of the later rounds, well 95% of the time was hunting but found no one. Which was kind of sad we wasted all that valuable time. But the OHC's were pretty good. By for my favorite. This war was really cool, that most likely contributes to the fact that we got to fight on the power lines. The 2 OHCs we held at the power lines were pretty legit in my opinion my team was really succseful, we got a bunch of kills the first round then we holder the lines super well. I even got an Mlg dank sneek attack on the rival team, which I couldn't have done without my awesome team. Marader who pushed the lines farther and got us the overall win, well in my opinion I don't have a clue what the real stats are yet. Rip Van, and his tolerance for the cold :soaked: ....But sadly the biggest disappointment of this whole war was the absence of the great Goat Cheese . You will be missed you will be forgotton. Duxberian was epic and so were all the other guys that attended the war can't wait till water war 2016

So how did the rest of yesterday go? Saturday was pretty crazy; reminded me a lot of MOAB with both the hilly terrain and the rain. I enjoyed the first battle the most, and would rather have just continued playing that until dark. I guess some players probably wouldn't have liked that though. The battlefield was alright; again, reminded me of Legend Park a bit. But even if it was kinda open, there was still some good fighting. I played pretty horribly haha, but I suppose I can use my pulled back muscle as an excuse. But WHY DIDN'T COCHISE SHOW UP? He pretty much made me make up my mind and decide to go in the first place. But still, I had fun and it was cool to see marauder again, even if only for one day.

After you left we just did a bunch of destroy the objective rounds on the bridge with 3/15 rules for defenders. Attackers spawned on the far hill except Snoopdoggydog who got a special dank re spawn that was closer but took 30 seconds. It was originally supposed to be fill the jug with as much water as you could within the time limit, but after 15 minutes and no one had gotten any water in, we decided to play where you had to knock it over instead. First round took a really long time, I was one of the defenders and switched off between using my Vindicator to hold them back and CPS 2500 when trying to get kills. Snoopdoggydog kept pouring water on the bridge to make it slippery, and lost two lives doing that. He even got me soaked when I ran into the jug he was carrying when dodging a shot from Duxburian, but I guess that makes us even for that night round at soakemore. I killed Duxburian at some point and also got Zack who was trying to cross the stream onto the defenders side. We played so many rounds they kind of blur together, but I think I got everyone else at least a couple times except Danny, who can no longer be considered a handicap as he is really good now!

I think I attacked twice and defended three times, though the first attacking round wasn't very interesting as I got killed by HBWW almost immediately, and then Snoopdoggydog just charged and kicked the water jug (even putting a big dent in it!)

The second time I defended duxburian sat out to film. It was a pretty short round though, I went to the right to help Zack(?) fend off Danny leaving HBWW alone to hold the bridge, and the other team rushed him and killed the jug.

The other time I attacked took a little longer, but still pretty quick. Zack jumped the stream and ran up the hill to the left of us. I and Danny(?) went up to head him off, getting higher then him. I had a good angle on Zack, but my Vindicator didn't fire properly, so Zack just focused on Danny thinking my gun was broken. Turned out that the nozzle selector just got out of position when I ran through some branches, and so I just lined it up again and shot him. I ran back down the hill and tried to shoot the jug, but Snoopdoggydog tried to do another suicide rush and got in the way, he kicked the jug, but had already been shot so it didn't count. Zack still hadn't come down the hill yet, so with Doggy out we still had 3v2 and were able to create an opening for David to shoot the jug.

I was a little worried defending during the final round that the other team would just charge the jug and win, but we held out for quite some time. I started out holding the middle with my Vindicator, but after the fell back a little I went for my 2500 to try and kill some of them. They actually got several long shot hits on the jug, but the bridge was so slick from the water Doggy poured on it, it just slid (funny as he was now attacking!) I ended up jumping the stream on the left and actually driving the attackers back up the hill! Someone stole all the water from my Vindicator while I was gone though, and when switching guns HBWW charged the jug. I managed to pick my 2500 back up and shot him, but he kind of shot over the jug at the same time, so it still counted.

After that we went back to duxburians house where we played a few rounds of 3/15 Nerf. It was getting pretty dark, so it was hard to see where your shots went, let alone if a shot was about to hit you. I think I got one hit on Duxburian, one or two on other members of their team, and got Snoopdoggydog 3 times. The end was epic, my teamates were all dead by that point, and I had to keep firing shots every now and then to keep Duxburian back. I was down to my last shot, and had already hit Snoopdoggydog twice earlier, so decided I was going to get him out. I managed to hit him from quite far away, in which case I gave up as I had no ammo left. My gun jammed the second round, at which point I decided to quit as I couldn't even see what I was shooting at.

Today we went on a big thrifting run and found lots of good stuff. Duxburian got a few Nerf guns, including another 4B, a film camera, and laser tag gun. HBWW found some duffle bags and drill bits. David found some Thomas toys, Bob the Builder Duplo, pokedex, clone trooper helmet, and two lightsabers, and I got a huge box of Duplo (which I used to build an Imperial Star Destroyer), a Bop-It Extream, K'nex roller coaster, and a bunch of Tech Decks, which was sweet as I was just looking at them on eBay and they were 10x as much!
