Pandemonium 2 [New Haven, CT] August 8th-9th, 2015

Post by DX » Thu May 21, 2015 1:30 am

Pandemonium!
This is an annual summer water war in the northeast. It's on the more hardcore end of the spectrum, located in the wilderness that popped up in the abandoned ruins of one of America's great rail yards. Expect to see tracks, classification towers, freight trains, transfer platforms, a few buildings, high grass fields, maritime forest, and unique, extremely rare, railroad-influenced forest. Cedar Hill has one of the largest railroad forests in the world and it's quite a change from the traditional forests we usually battle in.

I posted mine this week because I just lost my job a week ago. What better timing is there?

Anyway, I'm free for the time being. Even if the right opportunity comes along, I can probably still fly in. Kind of playing this whole summer by ear and have no intention to skip any beats.

Date noted. That's actually like a week or so before I move away, but I should be able to swing it. Sounds like my cup of tea, though I hope there aren't too many ticks in the area.

If I can't come to the Brooklyn War then most likely I can't come to this. In fact, I'm even less likely to come to this because I will be in job training at the time and that means no days off, so I'd have to drive up Friday night after 5 and then leave in time to be back at work Monday at 8. The trip would also cost about $300 in gas, tolls, and food, and we are trying to save for a house. However, none of this is in stone yet. I don't start work until next month and Tiffany doesn't have a job yet. We are going out job hunting for her in a few hours. After we both have jobs we will talk to a real estate agent and then see how much we can afford, etc. I will be coming to at least one war this year, probably Soakermore and Frozen Fury if it happens. Maryland is just so much cheaper, the trip would only be about $100, and then Frozen Fury can be lumped in with our Christmas/Thanksgiving trip.

FWIW I don't understand how more community members aren't trying to make Chives the Chimp's war, that's 15 people automatically. How often do you get to fight with that many people and how often do you get to meet new members?

I've heard several bits of bad feedback about the 15th-16th now. What about the 2nd weekend in August, the 8th-9th?

Any first weekend won't work for me because that's when I have drill/battle assembly for the army.

I was saying, for future reference, since I'm most likely not going to be able to make this anyway. I would have to drive to Connecticut after work Friday and then be back by Monday morning. Training should be done by Halloween, so then I'll be more flexible.

Hey guys, is it alright if I advertise this war on the Waterfight NYC facebook Page? That's the page where the the big Central Park Soak fest is organized, and I figure advertising there can net a few new people.

Yes, although there is a date change to August 8th+9th. The 2nd weekend in August ends up working better than the 3rd. New Haven is the terminal station of the MetroNorth rail line, so people would have to be pretty dedicated in order to get there from the City, but it's worth a shot.

I'm going to be working for the Army on the 9th of August, so I won't be able to come.

I haven't seen Cedar Hill in summer yet; this is going to be pretty good lol.

Secondary objective: Get buff enough to climb the cement tower. Will it actually happen? Probably not.

Drenchenator and I plan to attend this. I probably could only do one day (too busy in general), and I'll let you all know which one when we get closer.

I see what you did there.

I like what you're doing with the extra ways of earning points. Do these add up in the end? Are the teams staying the same or getting mixed up? Forgive me if you already answered these. It's 3:15 here.

The points system seems interesting. Are we responsible for bringing our own guns?

We generally always have loaners available, but everyone with the ability to supply themselves is encouraged to do so.
