We are 3 weeks away from Saturday. It's about time we start putting together a tentative playlist and that we come to an agreement on weaponry. Why don't everyone just offer their proposal for both?

I don't know the timings well enough to get a whole schedule going, but here are some thoughts:

Sat:
- Go to main location(s), keeping the backups in mind.
- Playlist: OHS, OHK, 1-flag CTF, standard CTF, outpost. All rivalry games if possible.
- Gear: Each team gets 2 backpacks full of water. If non-rivalry games are done, they should be done after the rivalry games, and we'll deal with water run-outs from there.
- Blasters: Nozzle limit of 2x. Low field life can be countered by carrying additional blasters, if additional water containers are too suspicious.
- Running out of water: All players are required to stay in play and stay within game boundaries, regardless of whether they have water or not. Obligation to spawn is 1 or 2 minutes for any games with respawning.

Sun:
- Go to Northgate? Or can attempt less legal playing areas again.
- Playlist: Anything. Definitely 1-flag CTF barn if we go to Northgate.
- Gear: Anything goes.
- Blasters: Anything, with some light primary rounds mixed in.
- Running out of water: Same as before, assuming we're at a location where there's no source. We may want to force obligation to spawn as well if that's the case, otherwise we don't have to if there's a source.

Edit: If SEALs and Marauder are gone on Sunday, I'd like to nerf if possible. Not sure if it's worth it unless we can get NIC vets to show up though.

Edit: Forgot night wars stuff. Oh well, I might add in later.

Playlist:

Rivalry:

-1HK - played until a team is eliminated
-1HS - played for the rest of the day

Non-rivalry:

-1HS - 2 hrs
-CTF - 2 hrs
-multi-flag attack/defend - 2 rounds, 2 hrs each
-outpost? - played until all bases are taken
-1HK?

Weaponry:

On-site water: Anything goes
No (safe) water: No water guzzlers allowed (see the list marauder posted earlier)
If there are no rivalry games, the vets get weaker blasters. (Out of whatever gets brought.)

Forgot to add this, but I definitely need to attempt squaring off with Rob at NIC Nerf sometime during the weekend. Learn from the best!

^ I like the revised blaster rules and additional water grab. Obviously, the runner's got to stay in contact with someone inside, so it should be someone with a working phone.

4x gets a bit much, but there's less hit disputes with it. I guess we'll have to figure it out from there.

I'm going to be arriving sometime super early morning on Saturday the 22nd. On Sunday the 23rd I'm taking Danny and Tony to Boston to the Celtics vs Trailblazers game. I am open to meeting up with the Spangs and Rob and whoever else wants to. We could explore somewhere on the AT and have a battle or we could go look at alternate sites or we could all do something in Boston.

I have a 5K on the 23rd, but I could skip it (I had a race last weekend anyway). Ideally I'd like to visit the power plant and the chemical plant, to look things over and see if we can figure out ways to fight in those locations. The refinery looks pretty cool, but it doesn't really wow me. A lot of open space. Not sure if you'd be coming through that way though.

Who all is coming to this again?

I can come on Sunday the 30th for several hours. I will need to borrow a blaster for the day. Which is the final location for Sunday? Is it necessary to carry water on you outside your blaster? Or can I just refill after every round?

I don't think we have any final location yet. Rob needs to specify the details as we are only 2 weeks away

Are you able to make it Saturday as well? I know that last I talked to Rob, and that was last night, we were actually going to be playing only 5 minutes from your house. Hopefully he gives us an official call on this in the next day or so. As for refilling that all depends on where we are playing and what type of gun you're using. If we don't play at the abandoned refinery in Newtown we will most likely be playing somewhere with a natural source of water and so you should be able to refill whenever you can (tactically) get to it. Whether or not you want to carry water on you depends on your personal preference, but I would recommend carrying water only if you're decently athletic and have a comfortable way of carrying it. Hopefully you get to use a gun that conserves water. Speaking of which, I thought you had a 310 and a 2100. Those are both pretty good and the 310 definitely counts if we are only using guns with smaller nozzles this time around.

FINALIZED Primary Location is Cedar Hill in North Haven, CT

https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=41.3421 ... 2&t=h&z=15

This is the half-abandoned rail yard that I crossed off the list back in the summer. It is actually better than I originally thought and retains its ambush-heavy orientation even in winter vegetation status. In other words, this is a compromise between Pandemonium's focus on ambush terrain and Frozen Fury's abandoned buildings heritage.

Cedar Hill used to be the country's largest freight rail yard. Some of the property is still in active service, the rest is a public park that has been more or less reclaimed by nature. There isn't much abandoned stuff that is useful, it just looks cool. The main focus of the area is on the clumps of bushes, trees, high grasses, and high weed thingies with scattered ballast clearings. This is unlike typical New England/northeast/mid-atlantic forest - we've never had a community war in such terrain before. There are also many mounds covered in high weed thingies where you can duck down and vanish from all sight. The active rail area is massive, but patrolled - not by security, I saw none - but by maintenance workers guiding freight trains. The one I was climbing on earlier in my scouting trip actually started moving and I came within about 100ft of a maintenance guy in a bright green jacket, but I hid in the high weed thingies and I don't think he spotted me. Because of that, we probably will not use the active yard, instead we will stick to the woods in the public section.

Cedar Hill's public half can be broken into several large, but self-contained playing areas: The main line, the peninsula, the field of death, and the badlands. The field and badlands are by far the most interesting areas to use and can support any round from long OHS to 1 Flag CTF. I would not advise having full park rounds unless everyone is very accustomed to the area, due to how large and overgrown these sub-sections are, you can get lost, and line of sight is very short. You will definitely want to bring more rugged clothing than usual, both times I've scouted, I ran out of paths and had to elbow my way through the tall weeds and bushes. I would recommend camo, or a brown or green jacket with khakis that can get dirty.

Because ambushes and hit-and-run tactics should work well here, I am open to playing at least one round of rivalry OHS of at least 2 hours. CTF should be very interesting, the flags can go in the clearings and the perimeters will work both for and against you. Line of sight is really short in the badlands, you will have to rely on sound to pickup attackers. There are almost no thorn bushes and the poison ivy has mostly died off, you can go right through all the vegetation.

I will post pictures when I have time to batch upload in G Drive.

So, more or less, this is the battlefield? Looks pretty sweet. Does that island/peninsula have enough concealment to use? Here's a really cool site on the location: http://www.abandonedct.com/2012/11/rail-yard.html

The full peninsula is a primarily a salt marsh. You can hide in there if the tide is right, and you enjoy the smell of marsh peat. The part I refer to as the "peninsula" is really just the neck, where the woods are. It is not a great position, it's lower than the level of the main line, but it does have a refilling area and lots of trees, as well as alternate methods of travel to other parts of the park without using the main line. The main line itself is not a great position either, but if you control it, you control the easiest routes to everywhere. Think of it like the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the Vietnam War.

Most of the south, southeast, and actually east-central too of the park have not yet been explored. It's really not *that* huge, but it feels massive due to the low LOS all-around and the lack of paths in many areas. There are lots of pseudo paths created by the abandoned rail lines, deer, and ballast deposits, but they tend to lead you away from landmarks and then dump you somewhere random.

I would make that the only rivalry round though. Do you have any pictures of the playing area? Also, we need to make plans to hang out before the war.

My friend Jack also wants to attend. He takes video making seriously and he wants to do some filming. I will also bring my camera and film when I get eliminated from a round. I may be able to play on Saturday depending on how late my relatives leave and how many chores need to be done.

How strict is the 10:30 start time on Sunday? None of the blasters I have work and I will not have time to fix them before the war starts. I will need to get set up with a blaster and fill it on site and learn how to play a OHS round. Therefore, should I get there around 10:00 so I can be ready to go by 10:30?

If Sunday is a rivalry round which team would Jack and I be on?

This is going to be awesome. I absolutely love the playlist. Alfatrooper, you are more than welcome on Saturday, we will be playing late I assure you. Probably into the night. Playing only a few minutes from your house should help. As for Sunday, yeah come at 10 pm if you want. We will have guns for you assuming you want to play for Havoc, which is Rob's and my team.

Here's a tentative timeline for Saturday based off the amount of time Rob has allotted for each game:

1. RIVALRY OHS (9 to 10 am) - Ambush Field

<Everyone refills at Staging Area #1 (The Tunnel)>
<Defending Team brings water to Staging Area #2 (The Storehouse)>

2. Escort the VIP (10:15 to 11 am) - Main Line to Storehouse
Escort your team's VIP from the top of the map to the bottom, if you can't do it in 45 minutes, then you suck :p The end goal is to get the VIP into the storehouse alive. Attackers have unlimited lives, Guards have 3 lives, the VIP has just 1. Ben's nephews are the VIPs for each team.

<New Attacking team refills at Staging Area #1 (The Tunnel)>
<New Defending Team refills at Staging Area #2 (The Storehouse)>

3. Escort the VIP (11:15 to Noon)
Switch sides

<Everyone refills at Staging Area #2 (The Storehouse)>

4. RIVALRY Unlimited Flag CTF (12:15 to 12:45 pm min) - Badlands
This is regular CTF with 2 bases, but without a limit to how many times you can score. We will use something like flagging tape that you can tear into pieces and bring back to your base. You can still only carry one piece at a time.

<Everyone refills at Staging Area #2 (The Storehouse)>

5. RIVALRY Unlimited Flag CTF (1 to 1:30 pm) - Badlands
Switch Sides

<Everyone refills at Staging Area #2 (The Storehouse)>

6. RIVALRY OHS (1:45 to 3:45 pm) - Full Park

7. Sunset RIVALRY OHK (4 pm until dark or everyone runs out of water) - Ambush Field

If we play night rounds at a school, they will be 1 and 2 flag CTF, VIP, and OHK. Seeing as it gets dark around 4:30, we should.
I'm assuming we are kind of eating lunch on the go? Let's try to establish some teams for VIP. Here are a few ideas to try to fairly mix the teams up. Do y'all like any of these?

Brandon, Ben, Scott, Nick, Jon, and Tony vs Sam, Keith, Rob, Baily, and Danny

'Ight, I have a couple things to say. First of all, I think that we should only do rivalry on Sunday. Second, does the rule where the kids eliminate people in 1HS go into effect on Sunday? Because I don't think we'd want to have someone sit out for like 5.5 hours. Though that assumes that they'd be up for the battle in the first place. The schedule doesn't look too bad otherwise, though where in there do we eat lunch on Saturday?

Additionally, what are we going to do the week before the war? I have plans to explore an abandoned resort, but that might be a bit of a drive for y'all. (It's like an hour southwest of me.) Otherwise we could do some exploring around Newburgh/Beacon, or just screw around somewhere. I guess we could check out the battlefield, though that gives me more driving to do. Ultimately though, I'm cool with whatever. I have every day off next week starting Wednesday.
