Invited:
Anyone and everyone

Schedule:

Friday:
Any time: Arrival and war preparation
Night rounds if desired.
Players may spend the night at DX's house if needed (extra beds: 4, floor space: 9+). Or if the weather is nice, we could camp out in the back field.

Saturday:
Meet at the Danbury Greenway before 10 AM. Aim for 9 AM, which should get us all there by 10.

Playlist:

1. Warmup OHK - Full boundaries, no time limit, anything goes primaries, both teams start at opposite sides with their soakers empty

2. Protect the VIP - South bank only, no time limit. Each team starts at opposite ends of the south bank. The team with the VIP wants to escort them to the other end of the park. The VIP has one life and anything goes soaker, everyone else on the escort team has 3 lives and light primaries. The defenders trying to kill the VIP have unlimited lives and medium primaries. The team that gets their VIP to the objective in less time wins. If neither VIP survives, the team that gets their VIP the closest wins. Players start with soakers full.

3. Long OHS - Full boundaries, 1 hour time limit. Regular OHS, the team with the highest score wins. Anything goes primaries. Both teams start at opposite sides with their soakers empty.

4. 2 Flag CTF - South bank main reed grove only, 30 min time limit. The flag bases will be located entirely inside the reed grove. All players have unlimited lives, but must respawn at their bases. This round will be played twice, with medium primaries. Players start with soakers full.

5. Long OHS - Full boundaries, 2 hour time limit. Regular OHS, the team with the highest score wins. Anything goes primaries. Both teams start at opposite sides with their soakers empty.

6. 1 Flag CTF - Flag located inside one of the reed groves, no time limit. Defenders get 3 lives and light primaries, attackers get unlimited lives and medium primaries. The team that captures the flag in less time wins, the round will be played twice.

If time permits:

6. Cooldown OHK - Full boundaries, no time limit, anything goes primaries, both teams start at opposite sides with their soakers empty

Leave Greenway, have Dinner

Drive to night war site.

Night rounds TBD. Probably 2 Flag CTF, Outpost, or OHS.

Sunday:
Meet at Paine Open Space. Rounds TBD - more traditional community war forest rounds

Local Rules:
1. There are two ways to get a hit:
-----A: Direct shot that lands on the target without breaking up. Does not need to be parallel-to-ground in order to be "direct".
-----B: Splatter damage at least the size of the target's fist.
-----For light primaries, at least half the stream needs to land on the target (replaces the splatter rule)

2. (At Danbury Greenway): For balance purposes, while on the bridge across the Still River, hits you make don't count. Deaths you take on the bridge do count. The bridge is intended to be a means of crossing the river and not an impassable defensive position for you to turtle on. If the bridge turns out to be less overpowered than predicted, I will remove this rule.

3. (At Paine Open Space): The Paine island is out of bounds unless your team is down in score, or the island is being used as a base in an objective round.

Packing List:
Sleeping bag
Sleeping pad
Pillow
Toiletries
Flashlight
Food
Drinks
Light primaries
Medium primaries
Main primaries
Water bottles
Guns to trade/sell
Tools/parts for repairs/mods
Money if we go out to eat
Changes of clothes
Extra shoes if we ford the Still River during gameplay
Bug Spray

The attendance list already says so, but I will almost certainly be there unless something really crazy happens. I'm really looking forward to this as I feel that our wars have gotten rather repetitive and I'm hoping this one will offer a different style of combat from the norm. This will be like the Vietnam War vs. World War I. More ambushing and stalking and less defensive positions!

Do we know what we're doing with teams yet? This war promises to be the best candidate yet for rivalry warfare, but that's all but dead now. Maybe we could form like temporary teams or something? I just want to be able to plan things out ahead of time with whoever is on my team. Though maybe it doesn't even matter because not many people are into tactical planning.

Still not sure who I should invite. This might not be the best first war for new players, but Bailey might be willing to come. He's into that same kind of militaristic playing style that I am.

Good idea. I think we should pre-plan rivalries every war since the actual rivalry is going nowhere.

Hey guys, please take more pictures this time, so I can enjoy this vicariously. Also, remember to take video. Next year at this time I will be back on the east coast (hopefully as soon as May), so I'll be able to make every war.

^Does that mean you won't be at Frozen Fury this year either?

Do we have a list of rounds yet? We should probably get cracking because this thing is coming up pretty soon. I'm fine with just doing like 1HS and CTF/Outpost the first day, though VIP sounds like it might be fun there too. I think we should only do like three or four rounds (not counting night) that day; just make them several hours long so we get more fighting time and tactical refilling will play a bigger part. Some of the rounds could even flow into each other with no downtime in between. It would be cool if we only took one break (for lunch).

As for night rounds, DX and I scouted some schools on the way home from a Nerf war the other weekend, and we found a really large one which I think we should use. I forgot the name though, haha. I'm looking forward to that as well. It looks like Saturday night would be the only time we fight there, which is fine with me because it'll stay fresh for future wars. There was a middle school and a high school; maybe we could do some kind of epic long-distance CTF between the buildings if we get at least 10 people. Otherwise I'm okay with shorter, more close-quarters fighting like 1HS, single-flag CTF/HTL, etc. But preferably not too late because I'll want to be in good shape for Sunday. Getting to sleep before midnight would be good.

I should start thinking about inviting people too.

A wild atvan appears!

Add me to the maybe list.
*gasp*
*suprised chatter as atvan announces that he might actually attend something*
All kidding aside, there is some chance of me attending this. The main problems lie in some concern amoung my parents (which is by no means unwarranted) about meeting with a group of people I've never met, and also, to some extent paying for a hotel since they are uncomfortable staying at a stranger's house. I'll be able to give a more definite answer in about a week, but any concrete details might be helpful in convincing my parents.

This also means I have to get in shape and patch up my arsenal as well. For the latter, I needed something to do, and for the former, it's probably a good thing since cross country season is coming. :P

Update on me:
It looks like I might be driving up there myself this war, my dad probably will not be coming. I'll be fine, it just means a 10 hour drive instead of 6 because there wont be someone to share the driving (about half that time will be for sleeping :D). Bela can't make it for sure, which means I probably will be by myself. There are other people I can invite, Sam (we know him), Kit (his only been to one local war so far, but he's pretty enthusiastic) and Callan (will probably be busy). I haven't asked any of them yet so I don't know for sure if any of them can make it (the sooner I ask the better) but I want to know: 1, how badly do we need people? and 2, do we actually want any of my somewhat mediocre friends there? I am at my LEGO con all this week, so I might not get on again until Sunday night or Monday.

We need at least one more guaranteed person pretty badly. I'd like to have at least 4v4. We technically have 7 people if Ben's nephews come, but they are still young enough to need the handicap (hits count, deaths don't, still respawn as normal). There are several ways to make 8 (Jon or Bailey coming would be the most likely) and there's still a chance of getting 10.

No, don't count me out of Frozen Fury this year, I still plan on coming. Tony and Danny are definites for Pandemonium so long as they can get a ride. Also, what about Andrew/Wetmonkey? He lives in Connecticut? Lastly, didn't you mention Robin/Nibordude might be coming?

If I were you, I would skip Frozen Fury and attend this (since you said you could only attend one war this year), unless you're busy or something by that time. This is your kind of war.

DX and I made a list of people to invite last night, so he'll be reaching out to them after APOC. I posted about this on FB but so far nobody has expressed interest (not surprised). I'm going to send out a few invites after several days, to people who I think might be willing to come.

I hope you can make it atvan. Try showing your parents pictures from past community wars; might convince them that we are not a group of child molesters or whatever.

We haven't seen Tiffany's family in Minnesota since April of last year, so we are going to be driving to Minnesota for a week right before the war. Then school starts on the 18th, which I think is ridiculously early.

So should I go ahead and invite people myself too? Like I said, there will be a better chance they could make it if I ask them soon. I think at this point Sam and Kit are the only ones I can ask, I just remembered Callan told me he no longer likes water wars. :x I am starting to see why CA99 has trouble getting enough people together, many of my friends have given it up in recent years too.

The apparent solution is that we're all supposed to move to the NYC/CT area, so we can gather within just a few hours of driving. (And because of the rich Nerf scene, of course.) If marauder sticks to that plan, then I suppose we'll all have to head on over eventually.

Or just move into a` single community in the middle of nowhere. Then we wouldn't need war planing threads, just walk over and ask. :goofy:

I pitched the idea of a small town like that lol. Always in a perpetual state of water war. Warrior training mandated for all citizens of age.

I guess for now, Facebook and SMS will have to do... And this forum, of course.

Woohoo! Always great to see new faces. Saturday is probably a better day for new people because Sunday will be non-stop fighting as far as I understand.

DX, did you PM everyone on here who might be able to come? I should know who I'm bringing by the end of this week. We also really need to come up with a playlist; I already made suggestions above. I'm also wondering, is it okay to bring face paint, or will locals freak out?
