Nerf Super Soaker CPS 5000

Post by FredCompany » Sun Sep 04, 2011 12:32 pm

Just a quick concept I drew up a couple of hours ago:
I present to you... The [insert name here] (haven't thought of a name yet. I need some help with that)
Image
It's about the size of a CPS 2000, and is CPS powered. It follows (I hope) the current Nerf Super Soaker design and colour scheme.
I ran out of ideas, so it lacks small details on the white part of the shell. I also forgot to do a pressure/fill gauge - I thought of it in my original idea, but forgot to draw it in.
It's just a quick design I did on Sketch (Brilliant Mac vector drawing app) so it's not great
[Almost] any feedback would be appreciated :)

EDIT: Forgot the attachment rail thing and the SS logo!
Image
Sorry about the bad job on the logo, it was too small to trace around to make it look nice.

Wow dude, that's a nice illustration!

One thing I don't like about the new Super Soakers is that while the designs are cool, they give the blaster a very limited water supply. So I'd increase the size of your reservoir a little. Also, what type of nozzles does it have? I don't know what a good name would be, but if it were powerful enough, I would call it the CPS 5000 (Actually, I think a blaster with that name should have a backpack reservoir as well.).

We probably won't be back, but the legacy lives on.

I would make the pump longer. You have all that space beneath, why not? Also, I agree on the reservoir part.

SEAL, I did think of making the reservoir bigger, it looked odd when it was wider, and longer could be too back-heavy. For nozzles, I'd have though either "a 20X, 10X, 5X and 2X" or "a riot blast, 20X, 10X and 5X", although I'd be leaning towards the latter selection.
Atvan, "all that space beneath" is taken up by the other half of the pump, which reaches just above the trigger (I planned out the internals first)

I'll revise the design in a bit, making the reservoir and pump longer if I can.

Didn't think about that. Slide it up an inch, and have it extend into the reservoir. For the res, maybe make it go lower, and enclose the grip in the back. Lots of room there. Also, you forgot the stap points. Thats a biggy.

Strap points are definitely a biggy.
Have any water guns in the past had a pump extending into the reservoir? And I'm not sure what you mean about enclosing the grip in the back. Do you mean like the Vanquisher?

Like the sphynx, except the pump isnt where it is. Like an enclosed grip, but in the back vs. The front.

I see what you mean (So you weren't saying make the res enclose the grip, which is what I thought you were saying)
I'm going to pretty much remake this, except for the styling.

The reservoir would just be behind the grip, with a part coming forward to the bottom of the grip to increase capacity slightly.

I see. It's looking odd at the moment, but I'm sure I'll be able to get it looking OK in a minute.

EDIT: How about this for the internals?
Image
I'll probably make the res a bit less rounded

Put the pump elsewhere. It is constricting there. I like the other design, with the changes I recommended.

But the pump is in the normal place? Unless you mean the tube going from the pump to the PC
And the having the grip in the normal place with the res extending to it looks very weird

Perfect! That is truly epic. Thanks martianshark for the title change too. Dont forget to have an intake go down to the bottom. I was thinking that instead of curving so much, have it more square for even higher capacity. Also, these neft SS guns are more square anyway.

Now all we have to do is find a way to convince them to make it and sell it... Which, really, is the kicker. I'd gladly pay upwards of $30 for a high-quality blaster with no qualms about it.

Hey new guy welcome to iSoaker.net! :goofy:

Yeah, me too. That is cheaper than a mostly good CPS.

Why thanks for the welcome, Atvan. Kinda bummed to see that SSC is going down.

Looking at this again, I don't think it would be too terribly hard to make one of these out of an HC. I once described essentially what you have here as a "dream" soaker built out of the HC... If I weren't a broke college student, I'd be tempted to go buy one and start working on it.

Regarding the reservoir capacity - what's not clear from the outside is how far forward it extends. On the original pictures. if the reservoir extends to about the front of the trigger guard that could be a good capacity.
