The fact that NERF describes itself as a "lifestyle brand" never fails to make me laugh. :D

Re: CPH M1

No work today since I'm out of town. I'm gonna swing by Lowes on the way home tomorrow and pick up the remaining pieces. I'll do a try fit and take a picture to show you guys what the final product will (hopefully) look like.

Re: CPH M1

My LRT and check valves arrived last night. I can't wait for the weekend so I can make a trip to Lowes to pick up the remaining parts. The in-line tube valve is brilliant it's SO small and looks like its going to work perfectly. Well, it worked great with me blowing air through it, so I can assume i...

Re: CPH M1

How are you planning on connecting it to the rest of the pump rod? Are you thinking of drilling a hole into a metal rod and tapping it to the same thread size as the bolt? I will most likely use a threaded coupler to connect the bolt to a much longer thread 1/4" galvanized rod that I picked up. I w...

Re: CPH M1

Wetmonkey, what did you do to make/get the plastic part around the screw that holds the seal? I used two nylon spacers that were ground to fit inside the 1/2" PVC pump shaft. I then turned each spacer while filing a 45 degree angle at the top lip. By placing the spacers on the bolt so that both of ...

Re: CPH M1

@DX: See that is exactly what I am aiming to solve. It's pretty hard to cut grooves into a dowel that are perfectly straight. Even the slightest imperfection can lead to an uneven distribution of stress on the o-ring (or whatever sealing material you're using) and lead to leak and tears over time. M...

CPH M1

So last summer I had a lot of fun building a super compact APH. It has some major issues, but I also think that the design was a step in the right direction for homemade water guns. This summer I am going to try to build a CPH with the same utilitarian design philosophy. I started this thread becaus...

Re: Possible Homemade revamp of the Classic Trigger

^I've always been of the impression that flow doesn't really affect performance at the scale that most homemades operate at. True, reducing turbulence and optimizing flow should be what every homemade aspires to, but I fear that too much focus has been placed on flow. For example, I would rather use...

Re: Best Dremel for Modding

I have a cordless Dremel from ~6 years ago. It was part of a boxed package with a lot of accessories, including saw, sanding, and grinding discs. The battery still holds a very good charge (I have to recharge it every couple of days, but then again I use my Dremel quite a bit). I think I bought the ...

Nice CPH Fishfan! I'm glad to hear that you are focusing on your pump design, because that is the source of problems and headaches for most homemades.

Please keep us updated with pictures as the build comes together!

Re: Vermin War 13 Official Thread

@M4: I'm still thinking that someone needs to pick up a GoPro and bolt it to the top of a couple blasters and maybe a WBL. That would make for some very entertaining footage.

Or you could just smuggle back some fancy army helmet cams. :goofy:

Re: What makes a bad water gun / water blaster?

@atvan, martianshark, kbuno50: Let's try to keep comments in the form of full sentences, and longer than a few words. Thanks. As for bad blaster design, I'd have to agree that inefficient design is probably the biggest problem. Efficiently designed blasters take less material to make, weight less, a...

It's a shame to see tech write-ups are no longer eligible for points. I feel like modifications and homemades are essential to promoting water warfare in my slightly "older" age group.

Re: Vermin War 13 Official Thread

What about Team People Named Ben vs Team People Not Named Ben? In all seriousness, I do like the idea of North vs South so long as the teams are fairly evenly distributed. Of course, if attendance numbers are big enough I don't think a one or two person difference will be all to bad. In the spirit o...
